Updates, Excuses, Contest Winner, and 100th Episode Thoughts (Spoilers) · 11:33pm Jun 15th, 2015
-My 'something silly' is well on its way. In 'Tylenol with Codeine,' the unicorn created by Greg Proops for the Harmontown podcast's D & D adventures is sought by the Mane 6 for help against a vicious monster called the Ember Mauler. Don't expect much.
-Progress on 'Changelings' and 'Victory' have been slowed somewhat by a new story idea. I'm currently debating whether or not to write it or pass the idea on to someone else.

And now, my thoughts on the (incredible) 100th episode, "Slice of Life." This took me awhile, as I had several double shifts in a row, had to attend one of my oldest friend's wedding, and sob over the final episode of Phineas and Ferb.
-Derpy (Never gonna call her Muffins, Hasbro) has a print and delivery service. Not post-mare, but I’ll take it. Also loving the new voice. Kind of perfect. Tabitha St. Germaine does it again!
-So Time Turner, erm, ‘Doctor’ is a scientist/inventor? What a lovely idea. This whole scene was simply glorious. The throwaway line about centuries alone is probably going to spawn several dozen fanfics. Same with the traumatic experience the Doc had as a foal.
-Oh, it’s the Dude. That’s cool, I guess. This whole bit was the only bit of the episode that didn’t work for me. Aside from the “man” comment from Doctor Time Turner which made me giggle.
-They kind of nailed Octavia’s voice, didn’t they?
-HA! Mac and Cheerilee. Trying to be sneaky, but I see you! (Villainous cackling as episode fits into the Continuity.)
-I think the Lyra/Bon Bon scene might be my favorite of the entire episode. From the perfect voice choices to the small characterization bits (Lyra’s eye twitch) this was stellar.
-I also laugh at anyone who says “Your ship is sunk. They explicitly say they’re best friends.” Well duh. Of course they're best friends. My wife is my best friend, too. Also, how many of your “best friends” that you don't routinely fool around with let you caress their cheeks as you gaze deeply into their hooded eyes…?
-Also, hooray for confirming that Celestia has secret agents! (Tosses another idea onto the story pile)
-And of course I loved the bits about her blending into the crowd.
-Oh hai, Steven Magnet. This was cute, I guess.
-The Vinyl/Octavia stuff was great as well… and also clearly foreplay. (Another story idea to the pile)
-A Button Mash cameo does not make me forget the loss of Button’s Adventures, Hasbro.
-Twilicane was unexpected and absurd and I loved it.
-The Gummy scene might well be the funniest moment of the entire series, bar none. I wonder what he’s thinking about the rest of the series… (story on the pile)
-The Celestia/Luna stuff was nice, but I think they missed a final kiss on the fandom’s cheek by not throwing in a ‘Tia’ from Luna.
-Also, did anyone else expect Celestia to pull the old ‘sign my name on someone else’s gift’ trick?
-There are no words that describe how happy I am that the Doctor/Derpy relationship made it into the show.
-Nice scarf, Doc.
-Ugh, Tennant reference. Just kidding. Kinda. (Smith 4 Life)
-I love how multi-layered the final monologue was, both in universe and also as a thank you to those of us in the fandom who gave these background characters their personalities.
-It took several rewatches before I realized that all those foals were cowering at the Changeling, he wasn't just sitting by himself.
-I know this was a one time thing, but can we please get some more Doc because HE IS GREAT.
That about wraps it up here. Hmm, 99 blog posts.

Ohhh hoo yes Lyra and Bon Bon shall be shipped. Duh, of coarse they're called friends, there are plenty of homophobes out there, they can't put that in a children's cartoon, yet. Letters from Buster almost had an episode pulled because one of the guest kids had two mothers. JCPenny had a controversial ad that featured two fathers. Society isn't ready for MLP to make the jump.
Also, Errant is my bestest friend! The best relationships have some friendship!

Dude. fun episode. CHANGELINGS RETURN!!!! The changelings return!!!! YES!!! Dear Luna yes!!!! And the ponies fear them! It all backs up my head canon.

I know how you feel about that Lyra and BonBon one. Whenever they said best friend I was like, "Hehe. They want to say something else, but can't." And YES! DOCTOR/DERPY FOREVER! TAKE THAT TWILIGHT!
