Practicing Nicolas Cage impression for MLP fan fic reading...SUCCESS! · 4:37am May 23rd, 2015

Oh my gosh, today I practiced reading a line from Nicolas Cage’s “The Rock” so I could learn to do a Nick Cage impression.

I practiced varying degrees of the Nick Cage impression 50 times.

I said the line in my own voice as a baseline 9 times.

I lip-synced the words to Cage’s delivery 12 times.

This took over 35 minutes of actual voice practice (with breaks) with several hours of searching for/watching Cage videos to see how he delivers his lines.

And now I can do the most basic of Nicolas Cage impressions!

Prepare yourselves for Nicolas Cage fan fiction readings...soon...

Remember I said I rested in that time frame. So it was 35 minutes of ACTIVE voice practice. but halfway through I rested for like 20 minutes.

So make it like two 20 minute bouts with 20 minutes in between to protect your voice. Unless it starts to feel sore. Then stop and drink some warm water to help sooth it. NOTHING COLD. That will constrict your throat and you don't want that.

I recommend drinking herbal tea with honey added. The warm liquid will really help your throat and it's what I've been using.

AVOID CHEESE, MILK AND DAIRY PRODUCTS. Don't try to voice-act on a heavy stomach. I tried that earlier tonight and had to weight because my stomach was bothering me (and it was probably affecting how I could control my diaphragm).
