This was my fav episode so far. Mainly because of how clever they handled this situation. This could easily be argued that the episode is about dealing with death. It goes through the 5 stages: Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Sadness, and Acceptance.
To equate that to hibernation is just genius in my opinion. My fav episode of the season so far!
(As for butthurt bronies saying she wasn't punished, look at how distraught she is in the bedroom with tank. I'd say she's punished enough.)

You know, saying she was sorry about doing all of this like five times because her friend and love for that friend meant that much to her?

Best bad episode ever.
Seriously, there was too many good bits in it to actually hate it... But Dash went eco-terrorist on CLOUDSDALE. You know, her home town and the city that Discord convinced her was more important than all of Equestria.
Destroyed all the hard work she and her fellow pegasi went through during hurricane Fluttershy to supply said water, dumped like half of the ponyville reservoir on the town itself, blew up big time on her friends like a petulant 5 year old (although I had to laugh that none of her friends cried when she did but the second Fluttershy started... And AJ... AJ)
Lets not forget that she herself is a weather pony and would probably know better the consequences of not only her actions but how dangerous it was to mess around with that shit.
I'm trying, I really am. But my brain keeps picking away at things like why Fluttershy never mentioned the hibernation thing when Dash first got Tank, how the timeline is supposed to work if this is Dash's first winter with Tank, the fact that the tortoise didn't actually die...
It's like a scab. I know I shouldn't pick at it, but it's so much fun.

Haven't seen it. Or any of the episodes. I see little snippets because it's impossible unless I stop using the internet for the duration of the season, but I avoid the big episode recaps. So thanks for not posting big episode recaps this time.
The fandom turns into a circus of overanalysis, overreaction, and meme-production whenever a new season pops up. I'm going to try to recapture some of the season 1 experience. When all the hoopla has come and gone, gonna quietly marathon the entire season.

I also got the sense there will be many who will not like this episode because of how Rainbow Dash was going on, but I thought it was funny. I go into why in my own review blog.
Have to admit, I wasn't sold on the episode until I saw a post mentioning that the episode could very easily be a pony-wrapped "death of a loved one" story. Watching it again with that in mind made Dash's many reactions seem more proportionate to what's happening
