Also, something interesting is that under Yellowstone there is a super-volcano it blew about 100,000 years ago and covered half the North American continent with ash.
Fortunately, no one has been reported killed by this eruption. I see they took the risk of lahars very seriously. After that one volcano that buried over 15k people, NO one sticks around when one of these pops it's cork.
