    Watch (This) Space

    Hello everyone!

I've been gone on hiatus for a few years. I stopped watching My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic in the middle of the seventh season. But a few months ago, my interest was rekindled. And the last two seasons were fantastic. The high point, for me, is the new characters -- the Student Six -- who breathed fresh life into the show.

Calling All Generous Souls · 12:35pm Apr 10th, 2015

art by Printik

Admittedly, this was not the blog that I had hoped to write for this weekend, but something important has come up.

Yesterday, Pixelkitties alerted me to the effort to help Sean Rey, a brony who was the victim of a horrific hit-and-run while riding his bicycle to work. The WRBL news report regarding the accident is here.

As Pixelkitties tells us,

Two cars hit Sean, both drivers fled the scene leaving Sean terribly injured. Sean has no insurance and his family is facing not only the emotionally devastating aftermath of this accident but overwhelming medical bills for Sean's hospital stay and ongoing care.

Sean, like myself and many folks reading this is a fan of My Little Pony- Friendship is Magic. Our community is based around a show that teaches the need for kindness, empathy and generosity. I like to believe the vast majority of us take that message to heart whenever possible.

Sean and his family need help and we have the opportunity to reach out to them and make a difference in their lives at this most devastating of times. If you can, PLEASE give to Sean's Go Fund Me campaign. All proceeds go to his medical care and expenses. If you aren't in a position to donate, please consider helping to spread the word.

Again, that charity campaign is here.

Pixelkitties is right. This is a community grounded in generosity, kindness, friendship... values that are more than just words. Here we have a chance to help. I've given what I can, and I'm now attempting to spread the word. Please do whatever you can. Even if it is just a little, every bit matters.

Sean's mother is giving us constant updates on the campaign's website.

Equestria Daily has more information here.

Thank you. Next weekend, I'll be looking to do some commentary on the new season episodes. We'll have one or two more to talk about by then.

(I'm going ahead and tagging this with Fallout: Equestria to make sure my fans see it, so have another Velvet Remedy. :scootangel: )

ALL of the Velvet Remedies!

I will do what little I can, in the hopes that everyone doing what little they can adds up to something huge.

I have no monies, but I will keep him in my thoughts.

Send Velvet to him and I'm sure he'll be fine.... Maybe a super restorative potion too.

Y'know, this wouldn't be necessary if the U.S.A. had a proper insurance policy. And even though I would donate an Euro or two, gofundme demands not only my country, what would be reasonable, but also my postal code, email and full name. That totally breaks the point of anonymity. But nevermind that, because even with false data the barrier of only accepting credit cards breaks it. Apart from the trouble of oversea-transaction, I can see this also being a limiting factor to those living within the U.S.A.. But I guess that's more about the choice of going with gofundme rather than everything else.

I shall still wish him to get well soon enough nevertheless.

Hope he gets better soon.

Being hit by a car on your bike is pretty bad. You certainly aren't as protected as being in a car. Just falling alone can be a problem if your going at a particularly fast speed.

Already donated, and shared it in several forums I'm active in. Thank you for sharing this. The more that share, the more people will help.

2968142 I can attest to the truth of this statement. I was hit by a car at 15, (came away with just some facial scars and a pinched nerve in my neck. I was lucky) and I am an avid motorcyclist. Bicyclists have even less protective gear than a motorcyclist would have, and they travel slower than the flow of traffic.

I find that I have to be even more watchful for bicyclists when I drive than I do for motorcyclists, because they are less visible.

And the winner of "purely American problems" goes to...

Seriously. If this was almost any other first world country we wouldn't have this problem. I'll attempt to donate what I can, but college has a way of making you utterly broke...

Same here...

I really can't grasp how anyone would ever want to pay with a system that doesn't even require any kind of password or pin code :applejackconfused:

Yeah, totally. :twilightangry2:

Ill do what I can, I don't have anything to donate so Ill share this article wherever I can

I still can't believe that no one helped him just some people these day :flutterrage:. Hope he gets better

You know with these like this makes both good and bad what's happening in this country. Is bad that no one helps this guy when he was injured but it's good thing that people are helping him. I can't give any money a way because I poor but I can spend word about this. If that helps.

'Merica!
Isn't capitalism great!?

No in all honesty, I hope he makes it.

Sadly he died today.

Condolences and best wishes to the family.

There are really no words that suffice. I didn't know him personally, but I know this loss will be felt by those who remember him, and those who will now never get the chance.

My sincere condolences to his family and to you also Kkat... :fluttercry:
