I am trying not to feel better about my low productivity after finding a new chapter to one of my favorites, a year and half after the last one.
I've been writing online for thirty years. One of these days I might actually get good at it.

I know the feeling. It's been over a year and a half since I last updated my story.

I have some ideas, yes; what I don't have is any grasp of how to form them into a coherent narrative. Yet.

I'm in the same boat. Although I have the added problems of thinking my writing sucks as well as not being a popular writer.

Popularity is a concept with which I deal poorly.
I assume from the get-go that anything I can write, somepony else can write better. This is, of course, true; you're not going to see me receiving the Cowbell Prize for Literature or anything like that. Still, I was a terrible writer throughout school, and after decades of typing away, I am now, um, somewhat less terrible. By any standards, this is an improvement, even if it doesn't amount to much.
On the upside, there's this: I took the two most-hated tropes in the fandom -- human in Equestria, Mane Six shipping -- and got 2500 people to read a combination thereof. How I pulled that off, I'll never know.

To this day I'm still shocked at how well my human/pony romance story has done. And there isn't any clop in it (yet?).

I've done a smidgen, but not more than that, and it's more implied than explicit.
And I'll defend having done so. In fact, I already have.

I tried writing clop, and failed miserably at it, so I'm never going to attempt it again. I think I'll just leave writing to the people who know what they're doing and find a creative outlet that I'm actually good at.

Being tone-deaf and klutzy, I suspect this is probably the only creative outlet I have open to me. And I have done several million words of nonfiction over the years. Fiction, however, is an entirely different realm, even if some of the skills are the same.
