Fanart. There is fanart.
The response to 'Heat of the Moment' has exceeded my every expectation. To put it in perspective, my three highest viewed stories are the 'Dear' trilogy... and if this keeps up then very soon 'Applebloom' will be surpassed.
And then there's 'Ages.' After a rocky start, it has ALSO taken off, albeit at a slower pace.
I'm not sure how I feel right now. You have to understand, I was CRUSHED at the passing over of 'Lunar Slender' and the rough start of 'Changelings.' I talked to Swirling about it, and we both agreed that it was strange how while my Followers were growing, my views were dwindling.
My hand is now all but fully healed and my Fiction Class final is all but done. I now have all the time in the world to work on 'Changelings' and 'the Branches of the Hearth's Warming Tree.'
There is great demand for the continuation of 'Heat,' so since that's nearly done already, that's my main focus. Get that out of the way.
But, damn it all, 'Ages' has a fully formed sequel in my mind already.
Looking at things, my path is clear; focus on what's hot and push off the continuity stuff.
...But I won't do that. I've worked too long and too hard to abandon either my continuity or my readers.
Therefore, here is my revised writing schedule.
-'Heat of the Moment: By Popular Demand and the Obligatory Epilogue'
-'The Changelings Have a King: Chapter 2- Kings and Queens'
-'Branches of the Hearth's Warming Tree'
-'The Greatest Gift'
'Branches' has been heavily revised and will now be a series of one-shots with no framing device. I make no guarantee that it will be completed this year. I fully expect it to be a Christmas themed 'Morning Glory' in that I can add to to it when I'm in the spirit.
Two small follow-ups to 'Ages' will be coming eventually, wrought by the epic debate currently raging in the comments.
I'm not going to let unprecedented success cloud my head, make me abandon my works, nor drive me insane with a bigger workload.
I continue to have the best readers in the whole wide world.

P.S. I now have my own folder in the Short Stories group. Pretty rad, huh?
It's not strange at all. Your followers are growing due to your Slice of Life and Comedy stories. Those are the ones with mass appeal.
"Dark" and "Sad" stories get the fewest views out of ALL tags. Look at "JMJ," a fellow I've been told is one of the finest darkfic writers on the site. I don't like his stuff, personally, because I find it creepy as shit.
And Porn? Porn is low hanging fruit. Look at MY only story. With only a couple blog posts from a popular friend or two, and the strength of a recent episode, I hit the feature box with that piece of crap :P At the time I had like 20-something followers.
YEA BOY
I had the exact opposite problems with Cards. 10,000+ views but not that many more followers.
