Equestria at War Update - The Way of Fire (2.2)

Hey there everybody! I've emerged from the darkness to help spread the news about another project that I'm working on. As I've mentioned in the past, in addition to being a fimfic author, I'm also a senior writer on the Hearts of Iron 4 mod, Equestria at War (discord link here), which is a fun (and sometimes very time consuming) volunteer project to dedicate

Equestria at War: Shores of Zebrica

Hey hey people, been a while hasn't it? Yeah, it's ya boy with another one of those "drop off the face of the earth and then post a blog post out of the blue" moments. At least they only last a couple of months (usually) right?

So, once upon a time, I had an idea.

And then millions of colorful ponies died tragic deaths.

This idea came to me when I was playing Minecraft a long time ago with my friends, LoyalLiar and Ruirik. I thought to myself, 'what if we just livestreamed our playing of video games to our readers so that they can write down every word we say and try to find any slip-ups on our parts where we accidentally release sensitive plot information?' At the time, I didn't do anything more on it, but now, I actually got off my lazy ass because I was a lazy ass and instead of writing more I downloaded the software necessary to stream to Twitch.

So what I was wondering is would you guys, gals, and artificial intelligence constructs be interested in some livestreaming events from the PoL group in the future? And if so, what games would you like to see? We tend to play League of Legends, Civilization V, Minecraft, Total War, or Europa Universalis in our regular rotation.

Also, if you're one of those people that just can't wait: http://www.twitch.tv/the24thpegasus

I would be pretty interested in seeing you folks play some Civ V. Love that game.

I would definitely watch, and Total War/EU4 sound like good fun.

That would, IMHO, really depend on two things:
1)How butt-clench inducing your playstyles and skill levels will be.
2)How entertaining will your interactions and reactions be to an outsider.
As for suggestion, I would have named CK2, but I have no idea how well-paced and well-coded its multiplayer is.

P.S. While I had already made peace with your and LL's utter disregard for Vonnegut's 8th Rule and it doesn't deter from your stories very much, but to flaunt it like that... Just makes me want to punch you.

You ever get the feeling that someone famous might give a bunch of really good advice, and then one piece of shitty advice, just to troll people?

(For the amusement of others reading this, here's Vonnegut's 8th Rule:)

Give your readers as much information as possible as soon as possible. To heck with suspense. Readers should have such complete understanding of what is going on, where and why, that they could finish the story themselves

There's only one genre of writing I can think of that actually aspires to the above: textbooks. I can see what Vonnegut probably meant, but what he said (as written above) means that you tell the audience that the Hound of the Baskervilles is a dog literally on steroids, and that Soylent Green is people, literally at the beginning of the story. At which point, you've robbed yourself of the entire point of the story.

What I would assume he means (if he's giving good advice) is not to use the total lack of knowledge as a source of suspense. Which, despite your claims, both 24 and I actively avoid. I mean, you already have all the information you need to know to figure out the big twist in SL, and you've all been collectively sitting on the identity of the Contractor for a while. Well-hidden information is a lot different than completely absent information. And, if you'll forgive me for tooting my own horn, I know it's well hidden because you can't tell the difference.

Yours altogether too sincerely and egotistically,
-Loyal
