A call for quality stories

Could someone recommend a particularly worthwhile story they've read here? I've been reading far too little pony fiction so far, and I'm curious as to what I may have missed out on.

191961 Hmm well, I'd love something with a certain profoundness to it, in addition to mechanical sophistication. So maybe not "Dash eats meat" or "Fallout Equestria", but something more meaningful and in-depth.

And I don't need full synopses! But I'd love a short phrase as to why they struck a chord with you

Eternal: Starts out a bit slow, but becomes a lot more engaging later on and delves into some very deep philosophical themes. A lot of tear-jerking towards the end (some of which was plain unnecessary), but well executed.

Night's Favoured Child: A what-if take on Nightmare Moon and her reign of eternal night. Strong characters, mystery, and political intrigue.

Paradise: A Luna/Celestia origin story. This reminded me of the sort of "childrens' books" I read when I was younger, revisited by chance later and found a new appreciation for.

Given your criteria, I can definitely recommend the works above. Do note that NFC and Paradise aren't finished yet, though.

None of them are without flaws, of course, but they were ultimately very satisfying reads to me. And I like to think my standards aren't that easy to meet.
