Computer Crashed · 5:59pm Nov 24th, 2014
One of my computers went blue screen crashed, and now it won't start. The power light comes on and I can open the DVD tray, but nothing else works. No startup beep, no booting...
Thankfully it wasn't the one connected to the internet, but I'm a little nervous. I don't know what to do...
Sorry to hear that, have you had someone look at it? Wish I could be more help but I'm not that good with computers having broke three.
2614154 I'll talk to someone, but because of my financial situation I can't pay for repairs right now...
So you got the feared Blue Screen Of Death... can you say what appears in the message of the Screen? It sometimes points to the problem that caused it.
It could have been caused for a few things, like an important boost file got damaged, but the most common causes are hardware failure. If your computer is old, I would say that it's the second (either a driver failed or some important component doesn't work). Also, knowing what Operative System are you using maybe helps.
2614185 This guy is right. If you're skilled enough, gut the comp and find the part that has trouble, otherwise, find a professional. Do the same thing for the good comp if you're worried enough, you might catch a problem early.
Sounds like some sort of hardware failure to me. But I can't tell anything without knowing the BSOD error message or what's happening during the boot process. Generally though, no beep upon startup indicates some sort of hardware detection error.
Does the monitor get a signal at all? Does it POST? (BIOS stuff show up, logo of the motherboard's manufacturer, etc.) All cables and cards inside the computer seated properly? Any debug codes/LEDs?
I'd love to help, the more relevant information I can get the better.
*hugs* That's awful. I once had my computer stolen and everything that was on it. So I know how you feel.
