The Last Roundup #10 - Boxer Late Than Never · 11:51pm Nov 23rd, 2014
Boy, that was a weird Sunday that never happened. Let's forget all about my scandalous lack of a blogpost last week in favor of recognizing that sometimes temporal dynamics is pretty freaky. Entire Sundays have disappeared off the map before, and sometimes I just don't have enough time in general.
Einstein's to blame, I'm sure of it.
Have some horsewords, though.

And now for our feature presentation (stories listed in no particular order):
Her Blood Ran in Hollows of the Floor by HoofBitingActionOverload
The time for Twilight to succeed Celestia as Bearer of the Sun has come. But as the abdication ceremony in which Celestia will relinquish her power approaches, Twilight begins to desperately search for a way to stop the ceremony and save her friend.
Morcraw ses: It's a deliciously grim and beautiful dark story. Really nice imagery and great worldbuilding tidbits.
Welcome to the Show by DWK
In the aftermath of their defeat, Aria Blaze and her siren companions struggle to figure out what to do with their lives.
Morcraw ses: In a strange twist of fate, it's a story that's focused on Aria after RR.
Aria tries to move on after their failure at CHS. Adagio is a butt. There's also some really cool world-building thrown in. The start of the story has been pretty promising so far.
Going Anywhere by Eakin
Who knows who you'll end up sitting next to on your next train ride?
Morcraw ses: A quick-n-cute tale that centers around OC-ponies. Normally that would be icky and untenable, but Eakin writes well and manages to make it all work pretty darn marvelously. Arguably the biggest complaint is that there isn't more of it.
Reformation Buddies by Metool Bard
Can former villains learn from one another without driving each other and everyone else insane? Discord seems to think so. Sunset Shimmer, however, has her doubts. And the Sirens aren't helping matters, either.
Morcraw ses: You can pretty much figure out from the description that this tale involves Discord and Sunset Shimmer hanging out. Also Sirens. There's a lot going on in this story, and indeed it's still ongoing, but it all looks to be pretty excellent.
Dawn by Titanium Dragon
Celestia raises the Sun for the first time.
Morcraw ses: A nice little bit of Celestia and Luna being Celestia and Luna. It's not going to blow your mind, but it's Celestia and Luna, and the world always needs more of that. Also check out the companion-sequel, Dusk.
WILDCARDS
Let Me Tell You About the Hole in My Face by Slavoj Zizek
Applejack tells you her only secret. It is about a hole. The hole in her face. The breathing, living hole in her face. (Inspired by the cover image and a recurring dream)
Morcraw's Wildcomments: One of the most disturbing things I've ever read. I kinda like it for that but at the same time there's not much to it beyond that.
An Open Door by SkycatcherEQ
A look inside Adagio’s emotional state and her journey forward roughly six months after Rainbow Rocks.
Morcraw's Wildcomments: A vector artist tries his hand at writing, and it's actually pretty solid. It does a good job of progressing characters naturally and does a great job of expressing how important song is to the sirens (Sirens?).
Also the editor is terrible and smelly.
And that's it for this week, folks. Be sure to check back on the group next Sunday for next week's post if you think this is a cool deal. Or just check the feed, if you're following me. I'll be doing weekly crossposts on these every Sunday.
Have a nice day!
Morcraw is such a meanie
We had a pretty good couple weeks here, though admittedly it might be because we had a couple weeks in which to accumulate them.
Not that I am, you know, biased or anything towards this list in any way. Because I'm not.
I am unreasonably happy that I made the weekly roundup.
Welcome to the Show is turning out to be excellent. I'm really glad you put the effort into finding these gems. Even if all the others, which I haven't gotten to yet, turn out to be not to my taste, it's good enough to justify several round-ups on its own.

Well, I guess this makes Morcraw being a big meanie all worth it.
Welcome to the Show definitely deserves its place in the roundup.

You know, until you said something I had assumed the joke was that Morcraw was the editor. Now it seems less funny.

I feel like
You're under the impression
That Morcraw is an actual person
And not a pseudonym
For whoever is actually writing the blurbs
2615672
... Were you writing the blurbs, then?
2616678
The people who suggest the stories write the blurbs.
2616694
That... Tells me nothing. You couldn't have been vaguer if you tried, there. I mean, I assumed as much, but I have no idea who recommended that particular one beyond "Obsolence or one of the people he knows", it doesn't say, making my question perfectly legitimate.
2616966
Each story's blurb is written by the person who suggested it.
So a variety of people.
These people may or may not include me.
2616974
Oh well, the important thing is that this conversation motivated me to read all the comments on the story and introduced me to the phrase "commit sudoku".

You're welcome!
