Well, This Is Awkward... (A Reviewing Signal Boost) · 3:52am Nov 11th, 2014

So I'm not just doing my own fanfic reviews now—I made bookplayer start doing more fanfic reviews too! She's got a fun style for it. Basically, it's a read-along-and-watch-bookplayer's-reactions thing, and if you're interested in fanfic reviews (which I've got a feeling a number of you are) I think you might enjoy these. She tried it a while ago, but it fell by the wayside. But now it's back!
Dun dun dunnn!

I can't speak for her in terms of how often they'll be happening, but I suspect it'll be at least once a month.

Anyway, she kicked out her first one this evening, and it's for one of my own stories—"A Filly's Guide to Not Making Headlines". I totally had nothing to do with this, and I wasn't really expecting it (though maybe I should have been). But it makes me pretty happy. It also, though, puts me in the uncomfortable position of signal-boosting somebody's signal-boost of my own story. Awkward—but thankfully, at only two levels of meta, far from reality-destabilizing.[1]

That's also why you folks who have "Filly's Guide" favorited are getting tagged with this post. If you enjoyed it the first time, I suspect you'll probably enjoy bookplayer's read-along commentary as well. And for everybody else, I'll be back with a new slate of reviews on Saturday evening!

[1] Horizon rightly points out in the comments that, in fact, this sort of thing has happened twice in quick succession. So actually, yeah, maybe we should be worrying about reality stabilization before this turns into some sort of metapocalypse.

"Kind of uncomfortable"?! Signal-boosting a reviewer who posted a review of your own story is worse than genocide. I can't believe anyone would have the sheer, unmitigated gall to engage in such a travesty of ethics. Anyone who would even contemplate such a thing should be dropped off a bridge into a barrel full of bees.

<sighs>

I know, I know.

<goes to fetch the beekeeping suit and snorkel, again>

2587633
… Hey! Give me my snorkel back!

2587636
I believe in communal property ownership.

Anyway, you're not due for doing the bee barrel drop again until... at least a couple weeks from now. And that's only if you continue to insist on displaying the sorts of bad form that..

Just a sec... I think the snorkel goggles are stuck.

2587636
Has it been just like a snorkel to you?

And does this mean Bradel has only one nostril?! :pinkiegasp:

A metapocolypse. I imagine Skywriter will be pleased.

Whoa, back up there.

bookplayer is a chick?!

Also: Awesome.

Would it be a metapocalypse if I stopped being so lazy and busy and resumed my own crummy review series?

2587737
That'd depend on how many people who you reviewed linked back to your review after you reviewed them.

Honestly, I'm disappointed in myself that I couldn't find more ways to use cognates of the word "review" in that sentence.

2587742
While you review your review of the word review, perhaps I'll get back to reviewing in the hopes other reviewers review my reviews and become inspired to do their own reviews. Or maybe I'll review one of horizon's fics and perhaps close this reviewing loop.

Review.

2587746
If you do review one of my fics, at least I can promise to link back to you in the bargain. Seeing as how I already have a bee barrel drop on the schedule, and all.

Actually, I'm ashamed to admit i''m probably the one keeping the loop from closing. What with not having any story reviews of my own to post. :derpytongue2:

2587861
Well, you could always review this, 'cause I don't know if you ever did get around to reading it. That'd close up the loop.

...unless 2587746 goes and opens it up again.

The only way to close an endless loop is to start another.

You know, don't you just think that Princess Celestia is just the best princess?

2587631 And the bees are made of fire.

2589716
And the flames are made of smaller bees.

I can already see where this is going—and yes, it's turtles all the way down.
