Just a Thought... · 10:56pm Oct 18th, 2014

Wouldn't it be nice if all the authors who abandoned their stories and never came back did that just to let you know that they did so?

Reorganizing my stories right now and I've probably got about 100 stories that never have been continued in a year or more, and out of those, only four went on hiatus and only two outright cancelled.

Thoughts?

I agree, it would be nice.

My story may have months between chapters, but I am determined to see it through.

Personally, I wouldn't mind if there was a setting in the site that would auto-change the story status to "On Hiatus" after a set period of time (as set by the user) if no updates are made to a story not already set as completed or canceled.

I might either try to officially take on every cancelled, hiatusforever or incomplete after two year story, or just do it anyway.

I really wish people would have the courtesy to say "Sorry, but I quit." instead of just leaving the reader hanging.

Something like this would be very helpful. I especially would like that for one story in particular.

But we can't always get what we want.

It would be nice if they let us know.

On more than one occasion I’ve wondered what happened to a story only to find it hasn’t been updated and the author has disappeared.

Yeah, it sucks that many authors don't have a pair and ditch us. Hell, telling us they cancelled a story is the most respectful thing to do, yes, it'll cause some rage, but some will accept it and you won't leave the readers at the expectancy
