It's the obligatory new year blog post.

And yes, I am posting this at around midnight on new year. I have a nasty cold, so I decided to disobey nurgle's one command and stay home.

    Just for kicks

I'm mucking around with Lulu for a work-related project (very boring stuff) and thought I would do a quality test with something fun.

    Oh shit, words

Or maybe that comma is in the wrong place. I haven't decided yet.

    The odd things

I've just been reading through old comments on my scraps story, after publishing yet another chunk from the ancient cutting room floor. It's remarkable how many of the commenters are still around - but also how many logged off for the last time, soon after making their last comment there.

    But in brighter news

While I'm not making any promises about any particular project here, I am actually writing again. I figure if I write enough of something, some pony words might drop out somewhere along the line as well. You never know. What I'm working on at the moment is essentially a re-write of a story I read a long time ago; an old pulp sci-fi tale, about a spaceship that manages to get lost in the

My tubes are cracked · 10:19am Oct 18th, 2014

My internet connection is dead. I am currently online by tethering to my mobile phone and have been for a couple of days now. Phones are down as well. They say it'll be Monday before it all comes back.

Kind of sucks. All my entertainment is online these days and now I've been thrust back to a long-dead era, when we had to watch things when the broadcaster decided we should and spend time... outside; a time when Internet speeds are limited to mere tens and hundreds of bits per second and the only place to find fanfiction was geocities, and if it wasn't there we had to make our own entertainment. I think the isolation is starting to get to me. I'm trying to remember how to make a hoop and stick so I can chase it down the street. There's already snow drifting through the door and sticky, sooty smoke curling around everything. The mill owner said if I work an extra 12 hour shift I can eat again this week, but only if I don't lose another finger in the machinery and ruin the run with my blood. Bit that's okay, I coughed up a lung on him snd now he's dying of consumption.

Anyway I'll see you all in a few days.

I know the feeling. One of our cats recently decided that router power cables were a great thing to start chewing through. It's been a bit of a pain in the ass.

Don't forget to kick a can down the street. That's always a deeply moving experience.

Hm...sounds like one of my fridays

Hope it all goes well

Well, if you find Dickens, give him a good kick. That may help.

Best of luck in the primordial era. Try not to kill your own grandfather. :raritywink:

well, that took a turn :V

At least you have a leg to chase after that hoop with. Both legs I'd assume.

Fun blog. 10/10 best historical retelling of the early 2k and late 90's.

Pinch some coal from the coal waggon and you'll have heat for another day.

Could I interest you in a game of ball in a cup.

Oh come on. Clearly the problem is that you have no friends and are short of exciting board games. Also, roleplaying games, but whatever. -- It's good to remember that there's a whole world outside of the technology of the glowing box of light.

P.S.
Sorry, that sucks. My iffy school internet (10mbps down, 1mbps up) is likely vastly superior to your tethered phone.
