    Where I've been...

It’s getting harder to write with swype (pain-wise) for some reason. I’m thinking of going back to voice, although there’s still the hesitancy I feel due to the pain reaction. Whenever I think of writing, there’s the anticipation of pain, and it makes me procrastinate like no one’s business. Writing with voice isn’t much help because of how fast my voice hurts from it (I really have to enunciate

Progress Report - and bonus art!!

The moving process has been delayed due to work dragging their feet on the transfer. Oh, also, the old car I was borrowing from a friend finally gave up and died. Wife and I finally got a vehicle of our own and Sweet Celestia's Beard insurance is expensive in Alberta. Hopefully the move gets done soon.

Good news! The chap is written and off to the editors as of today. As soon as it's done, it'll be posted, no matter where in the month it is. Shall start writing on the next chapter immediately!

No news is bad news in this case (Update 10/16/2014) · 1:54am Oct 17th, 2014

Doctor office called me this morning and cancelled the appointment. Apparently the doctor was not in the office today. The new appointment isn’t until October 22. So I have another whole week to sit here and slowly lose my mind.

In addition, the inspector that Violet and I are waiting for has not shown up yet. The initial appointment to examine the new building was Tuesday. Tuesday the sixth. He’s now a week and a half late. Until this inspection goes through, we cannot move. Until I move, I can’t write via voice. They’re still just no privacy here where I’m at right now.

Also, it appears real life is crushing all of my editors. So editing has been extremely slow lately. It doesn’t help that I cannot type in a chat to communicate with them right now.

The initial two week rest my doctor initially prescribed hasn’t borne fruit. While my hands might not hurt quite as much at idle, during typing, they are as bad as ever.

The nightmares are getting worse all the time. I simply can’t get a full night’s sleep anymore. I don’t know what I’m going to do to get to the next appointment. The doctor thinks this is a repetitive stress injury. If that’s the case, it isn’t healing anywhere near as fast as he predicted. The way the symptoms are manifesting also lends itself to being neurological rather than an injury, at least in my uneducated opinion.

At this rate, I am seriously considering switching doctors. The only good news I have to report is that I did get an MRI fairly quickly. It was last Sunday. So, the results should be in by the time I see the doctor again.

I’m just getting roadblock after roadblock after roadblock. Treatment, painkillers, privacy, a good night’s sleep, I need something. At this rate, I can kiss any kind of career goodbye.

I don't know what to say, sir. Down here in Texas there's not much I can do but send sweet nothing's your way (and by the sounds of it you're married and heterosexual!)

Joking aside I'd had great expectations about that Canadian healthcare I've heard so much about. Sounds like it was a little hyped up. I hope your doctor steps his shit up and figures this out. Good luck, sir.

I'm so sorry about your predicament. Those things are absolutely terrible.:raritydespair: I will be keeping you in my prayers as best as I can. You'll pull through. "More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope," Romans 5:3-4. Know that God clothes even the lilies of the field and feeds even the sparrows. How much more us? Keep Calm and Canter On. :yay:

I don't feel like I could offer you much that wouldn't seem trite or glib, but I would like to help you if possible. If you could use the help of someone who could go through your current writings and assist with mechanics, corrections, point out flaws, and possibly make minor suggestions, I'll be happy to help (as much as I hate GDocs, it is useful for this). My time is pretty much limited to weekends because Reasons, but I do manage to help a few other writers here from time to time. Up to you, but the offer is there.

Sorry to hear that. :( Nightmares? Did you mention that before? Wish things were going better for you. :fluttershysad:

I hope it's not neurological, I expect that would make a real mess of things. Not that repetitive stress injuries are good, but yeah.

I remember when I used to use one of those mice with the ball you move with your thumb (like this). Those are not good for anyone's hand. At one point I used it so much that I made my entire hand hurt (particularly the thumb), so I had to use a different one.

Time to learn how to write with your feet? Invent a gibberish language that can be translated to English later? :trollestia:

Not much to say other than I hope it gets better. Best of luck.

I truly hope something good happens in your life soon enough, you deserve something after all these bad news that keeps stacking up.

There's absolutely nothing I can say that isn't ineffectual platitudes, but I do hope something good happens for you soon. You have my best wishes for a steady recovery of whatever ails you.

I'm also largely at a loss, except to say that I'm praying for you (for whatever you may think that's worth) and to offer my advice (from painful personal experience) on sleep deprivation, anxiety, and nightmares.

For help getting to sleep, and staying asleep, my advice is Melatonin.

Since it is all natural (you body's own sleep chemical) usually a decently large dose leads to a restful night, with no ill side-affects. I also dream somewhat less when I take it, which was a God-send when I had my own personal bout with recurring severe nightmares. Your mileage may vary on this front.

In terms of psychological defenses/aids, A cup of hot chocolate, and some mindlessly silly Youtube comedy sketches seem to help in my experience. Dreams are as much influenced by the last minutes before sleep, as by other factors, so sometimes vivid images before sleep can outweigh other factors.

For anxiety during the day? Two words:
Net. Flix.

Binge-watch *all* the interesting series. :pinkiehappy:

Canadian healthcare is, as I understand it, a trade-off; Vastly lower monetary cost for everything, at the expense of far longer wait times for procedures, and appointments.

Whatever it is, it can't possibly be as insane as the American system, where a pill that cost 0.25 cents to manufacture can cost $5,000 for a box, and another $5,000 again just to sit in a room to let the doctor write his name on the wee piece of paper that allows you to legally purchase said drug. :rainbowlaugh:

Modern society is weird.

i think you should try and switch doctors, if the one you have now is set on that it is a stress thing then he might miss new symptoms and that can only lead to bad things, also i really hope that you get better soon

ps. no i mean it that, have killed people before
it might not in your case ( lets hope ) but it can still lead to so very bad things

2537831 The doctor and the house inspector. That's two jackasses not doing their jobs.

2538069 I tried placing the keyboard on the floor and typing this reply with my big toes. Took me 6 minutes plus editing.

I'm sorry to hear that you are having so many hardships, know that you are in my thoughts and prayers (if you want them to be). :twilightsheepish:

Keep Strong and know that you have support here.

Regards,

Consulting a second doctor about this might be a good idea, but I have no idea in how far the Canadian health system allows for that without additional cost (outside of an acceptable frame, that is).
And yes, it does sound more like something physical--but I'm not a doctor and medicine/the human body can be weird, so that doesn't necessarily say anything. Let's hope the MRI will tell you more.
Maybe you'd want to try the Melatonin thing Guardian_Gryphon suggested if you can legally buy that stuff in Canada. Make sure to inform yourself about potential side-effects and dangerous doses beforehand, though. Natural or not, everything's a poison at the right dose.

Melatonin will do the trick for sleep but dream/nightmare wise... I'm surprised you dream less with it. The times that I take it are pretty much the only times I seem to dream. And they're extremely vivid.

I'd recommend trying it but be wary of how it affects your nightmares.

You're in my prayers Cv.

That's spooky...

It also sounds like a great subject for a biochemistry experiment. I know my most vivid dreams seem to happen when I'm under stress conditions, and when I drift off to sleep slowly.

Usually if I've had something like Melatonin, I fall asleep faster than I would otherwise naturally. Then again, I'm an odd-sleeper period. It takes me one to three hours to fall asleep on the best of nights.

I have no idea what to make of that. Unless you're a total troll.

I´ve been browsing around internet and found an article about magnesium deficiency.
Symptoms partially match, did your doctor rule this out?
