Hello, I'm The Cynical Brony, and I review it so you don't have to! Dash is my favorite character in My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. Yes, I've always had a personal connection with Dash. The reason I bring this up? Recently, I've seen a lot of Dash haters. And I mean a lot. So, I want to bring my counter arguments to the table. Okay, and two other reasons: 1. She's going to die a horrible death in Cupcakes, my next review, so I want to pay tribute before my view of the show and her character gets tainted for a bit. 2. I just found a bunch of Dash jifs and I want an excuse to use them! So, I'll be addressing the 5 reasons why Dashie will always be the best in my eyes.
First off, and the shallowest reason, I really like her character design. Just look at these! When she needs to be adorable, she is. When she needs to be intimidating, she is. When she needs to be soft and gentle, she can do that too.
Second, she's got, in my opinion, the best state of mental health out of the Mane 6. Think about it: Fluttershy is too afraid of everyone to get any real social interaction, Twilight and Pinkie are quite clearly insane, Applejack's too honest and stubborn for her own good, and Rarity spends so much time trying to be lady-like that she bottles up all her emotions until she blows up at them. See example below.
An ego is good for you as long as it's not to big. "But Dash is an enormous egotist!" 1. No, she's been pretty mellow since Season 2. 2. Yes, Dash is an egotist, but let's compare to other egos on the show, shall we? Discord: Ego was so big, he convinced himself that not even the Elements of Harmony and two gods could stop him. Chrysalis: Briefly puts an already weakened being out of commission, and is convinced that no-one can stop her. Trixie, the biggest ego on the show: After publically humiliating the princess's apprentice, she has the nerve to publically torture the Element Bearers, take over the town that Princess Celestia and Princess Luna specifically put under their personal protection, and then let in the one person who can stop her just because she picked up a necklace! Tell me again about how it's wrong for Dash to take some credit for her acts of heroism compared to these guys! And at least she can actually back up all her claims!
Third, she helped save the world 6 times! Plus, not including the times she saved the world, Dash has saved dozens of lives! How dare you guys call her worst pony, or stupid, or even evil as I've seen some call her! This is not how you treat heroes!
Fourth, I value loyalty above almost everything. Since Dash does too, and that she's the living embodiment of loyalty, I have endless respect and admiration for her.
Fifth, and above all else, I relate to Rainbow the most out of the Mane 6. Someone who wants to do right, but sometimes gets blinded by their own ego. Someone who will stop at nothing to do right by their family, friends and country. Someone who will fight against evil to their dying breath. Someone who holds loyalty above all else. Someone like Dash. Someone like me.
