Wonderbolts... A Rewrite · 11:08am Oct 13th, 2014
So, way back in ye olde 2012, I wrote a fic called "Wonderbolts... Yeah, Right" and submitted it to Equestria Daily. It got denied with a vengeance. At the time I was pretty salty about it. Going back and reading the email, I got salty again. A lot of the stuff in the email kind of pissed me off. Lots of preference stuff rather than technical things. And to top it off, of course he complained about the ending, which I wrote to be abrupt and jarring on purpose, basically implying that I rushed the ending out just to be done with the story.
Being a rational and reasonable guy, I figured I would go back and read it, see if I could spot any of the more technical issues.
I didn't get but three paragraphs in before I was groaning at the old me writing style.
So, screw it. I'm gonna rewrite the whole gosh darn thing. And serve it back to eqd 2 years later to see if they will take it. I wonder if that'll be a new academy record for time waited between submission attempts.
And if they still don't like the shock speed ending, well, I wrote it that way. How you gonna tell an artist who did precisely what he intended to do that he did it wrong? We will see what goes down.
