The Grey Pegasus

Pony stuff author since 2012. Writes supposedly good stuff. Still haven't made a break. Still persistent. Probably highly unlucky. Or hated by the universe. Either determined or insane. Or both.

Ponyfics and SATs... · 5:30pm Oct 11th, 2014

Here's a blog that I kind of started writing a couple months ago when I took the SAT the first time, but really only finished it in the middle of taking the test today.

So the first time I took the test, the essay prompt was something like, "Should people be judged on their past doings or future potential?"

Well geez. The first thing that clicked into my head was... Past Sins, which I had just finished reading recently at the time. So... I wrote about Past Sins, but being very ambiguous as to what the story was actually about.

That was fun.

But today, it was different.

In one of the reading sections there were two medium-sized passages.

And they were about writer's block. But that's not the worst part.

The first one was from a novel from the 30s. It was about a guy who had undertaken the ambitious project of writing a long, epic piece.

Two years later, he had only come up with fragments. And he was still stuck. And, apparently, in that time, he had written other small, shorter pieces to keep himself busy.

Um.

Prophetic much?

At that point, I was beginning to think that something in the cosmos hated my guts.

Until a question asked:

"The reference to "all types" (line whatever) emphasizes: ..."

Afterwards, I just went through the remaining questions as fast as I could. Just... no. I was done.

Something metaphysical is trying to tell me something.

Curiously, it's never said what happened to that guy afterwards. And I'm not intending to find out either, lest fate have a nasty surprise for me.

Also, the second passage was an even harder kick to the gut. It was 'how to look at writer's block'.

According to it, I have to accept the message of the block before I can move on.

I hate standardized tests. So I'm going to write a for-funs fic today.

Freaky, m8. Maybe you should watch Rainbro Brocks and join me in this euphoric sensation of wanting a student exchange to that place. It'd be neat as all get out.
