    It's Just More Entertaining

You know, after all this time, I'd still rather watch Countess Coloratura sing "The Spectacle" than see Rara perform "The Magic Inside". It's a matter of taste, of course, but to me, the songs and the performance of "The Spectacle" is just off-the-charts more entertaining. I'd much rather see that concert.

    Fimfiction's Autumn

So Seattle's Angels and The Royal Canterlot Library both shut down this week. I confess that I find that to be pretty sad. I had my share of success on this site, but most of my attention came from critics. I really appreciate the time that they took to review my stories and everyone else's who would normally fly under the radar. It meant the world to me, even when the review itself wasn't

    Mystery Figure

Okay, so my friend sent this image to me, and I swear I know who that winged figure is in the back, but I just can't come up with a name. Anyone know who the weird demonic creature is? I swear he's related to Grogar somehow.

Hopefully this link works. I'm too lazy to find my login credentials for Photobucket.

    The image in question.

    Hindsight Hilarity

Been a minute since I've been here, and I decided to read my last for blog posts to see what was going when I was around last.

The second most recent post was written on New Year's Eve 2019 where I spoke about how eager I was for 2020 and how much hope I had that it would be a better year.

    The Newer, Angrier Fimfiction

I'm not around much anymore, so I'm not hip to the latest trends. I dip in every so often to check messages, and about once a week I look at my notifications.

Gah! So much to do! I have too many stories to write!

I've just finished one, and I'm staring down the barrel of at least ten more. I don't know where they all came from. Luckily, I'm feeling pretty energized. I really like how my new story came out, and that will probably evaporate once my editor gets back to me with a thousand items, but for now, I'm feelin' fine. I'm already thinking about a sequel to that story, but we'll see how it's received first. I love it, so it'll probably fall flat on its face.

I'm still struggling to find art, but I sent out some new requests that I've got high hopes for. The story won't be ready for public consumption for probably another month or so anyway, so I've got some time.

But the next order of business is definitely going to be updating Cheerilee's Thousand and Taking a Job for Granite. I've sat on that stuff for too long while I worked on this new Big Mac story and First Steps. Then we will see about some collabs people have been asking for.

And speaking of collabs, The Album 2 is seriously lagging. My Pinkie Pie chapter will never be seen! This is where I'd put the bawling Rarity emoticon, but we don't have it in the blogs, I guess.

And how about this snazzy update? I'm liking it overall, though I'm still struggling to understand some of the choices. I can't see the lifetime performance of my story anymore? Just a monthly breakdown? Uh, okay...

Good to hear you've caught your muse by the toe, don't let go!

It was never a 'lifetime performance' anyway. I figure they only kept so much data, but we won't know if it'll extend as it did before until enough time has passed.

2523808 What do you mean that it wasn't lifetime performance? All of my stories showed where their upvotes were at from the day they launched. At least, that's how it seemed to me, though I admittedly took it at face value.

But it seemed a lot more informative than looking at a story by a single month. I'm not sure what I'm going to deduce from that.

2523855 It held like, a year, maybe 18 months, tops. My oldest stories had all ling since lost their starting data. Some of them weren't even THAT old. And we don't know that it won't build up to the same again. We'll have to wait to see how the graph acts once full to have an opinion on it's relative merits. Could work just the same but without the old data carrying over.

Poor Cheerilee. She takes so much abuse. (Oh, wait. I have a guest chapter upcoming.)

Ahem. I mean, hopefully Cheerilee will find True Love, no matter how many dates she has to go on, even if it really does take a thousand... just a sec. Phone.
Yeah. Uh-huh. No, I'm not laughing at you, I'm laughing... Oh, you're not laughing. How did you get my number, anyway? No, I don't know any eligible young stallions. Or old ones. Or mares. Well, I know this single police officer, but... Yeah, I'll have him contact you. Okay, later.

2523861 That's weird. My oldest story is A Door Jam, which got 67 upvotes on its first day. As of last week, it still displayed that. I checked it when it hit EQD. I dunno. I wouldn't be too surprised to find out that Fimfiction was bugged for some users or something like that.

In the long run, it's not all that important. I just like to see the growth pattern.

You're still going to work on "Taking a Job for Granite"? I am pleasantly surprised.

2524273 Oh, I fully plan on completing it. I've never abandoned it. It's just that I wrote a new chapter that I didn't like, and I had to go back and figure out what to do from there. I have an idea, but I need to see if it works or not. I'm not going to put out a crap chapter just to put one out. I'll take as long as I need to for it to be good.

2523930 Not sure if it appeared since or I'm blind, but there is a drop box above the stats to select which month's stats you want to see.

Sort of handy, but I still preferred it was it was before.

2545857 That drop box has been there since the update, but it's not really all that helpful to me to see a month by month breakdown. Lifetime performance is really what I care about, but even that isn't really necessary. It's just interesting to see sometimes when a story really took off all of a sudden. I can sometimes tie that back to a blog post that I'll find if I hunt around. But I'll never really see it on a month by month breakdown if I have to hunt through all the months to do it. I'll never put in the time.

2545865 I guess it figures that I was just blind.

2545869 That book continues to help me out, by the way. It's advice creeps into my brain when I write now.

2545878 Glad it helps.

By the way, I have a little something in the works for the EqD friend-off thing. Would you be free next weekend-ish for some feedback?

2545891 Yeah, send it to me whenever, and I'll take a look at it then if not before.

2545896 Heh. Gotta write it first. Had the idea a couple of hours ago, but the deadline is 31st, so I figure I'll give myself a week to write and arrange some feedback in advance.
