Recently, a comment appeared on my story "The Sparkle in his Eye".
Now, it's an interesting idea, and one I'm actually interested in exploring to a certain extent...but first I would need to create the stories where each of the mane 6 is raised outside Equestria, and finish those stories. Of course, first I need to come up with those worlds.
A discussion with a good friend of mine led me to come up with a few options. I already have Fortresshy, with Fluttershy raised by the TF2 team, and Twilight raised by Ratchet and Clank in "The Sparkle in his Eye". So I need the other four, which my friend helped me come up with.
I don't have real plots created yet, but I want to see what people think of these ideas for pairings of ponies to parents.
Applejack - Dante of Devil May Cry
Rainbow Dash - Tony Stark of Iron Man
Rarity - Bruce Wayne
Pinkie Pie - Kratos
Each pony would follow somewhat the pattern of Fortresshy, where when they make it back to Equestria, there's something of how they were raised - in the abilities/resources of their parents - that they bring back with them.

Dude, those seem like awesome ideas, but the idea of Pinkie with Kratos from God of War....Is it wrong that it scares me shitless?

Also, what's the logic with putting a hard-worker like AJ with the laid back Dante? and how is she going to adapt to Devil Hunting?

In the case of AJ and Dante, AJ's work ethic will rub off on Dante, while Dante's laid back nature will help AJ to relax and have fun. They'll round each other out.
As for how she'll adapt to devil hunting...we've already seen that the right triggers can cause pony magic to create an amazing physical transformation.

I'm thinking the Beowulf Devil Arms might be in her future if you're using the canon order of DMC3, DMC1, DMC2, DMC4. but that's just a theory of mine.

Luna becoming Nightmare Moon.
The ponies becoming Discorded (turning gray).
Rainbow Dash's mane and tail turning part ethereal during the Sonic Rainboom.
Fluttershy turning into Flutterbat.
And anything else I've forgotten.
The simple fact is the show has shown that the right magical triggers can cause ponies to undergo radical physical and magical transformations, and some of those can later be retriggered at will. Who's to say exposure to demonic magic from Dante won't create something like that in Applejack?
As for the Devil Arms...no clue!

I like it. Gives all of the characters a balance in terms of their new experiences. Though it might be easier if all of the franchises stuck to a theme of some sort.
I'd put AJ with Nathan Drake from Uncharted, Dash with Jak from Jak and Daxter, Rarity with Spyro from the Legend of Spyro trilogy and Pinkie Pie with either Marcus Fenix from Gears of War or Deadpool from any-/everywhere in the Marvel universe.

One thing, though:
I can go look for examples if you want, but this combo has for some reason been done to death and back. As soon as a Iron Man and ponies gets mixed, RD and Stark end up associated somehow.
If it's a snark-master with tech based powers you want for her though, how about Adam Jensen?

A great idea! Would it be like they are sent off one by one with Fluttershy as the first taken and returned, then Twilight, and so on? A great story spanning mystery, with all the families "working together" at the end. I would eat that up and ask politely for seconds!

The main problem with most of these suggestions is I have to limit it to games, anime, and cartoons I actually know.
So far, all alternate suggestions I've received I've never heard of, or, in the case of Deadpool, I have only heard of. The four I've chosen I am familiar enough with that I feel confident in writing them raising ponies.
Fortresshy was an exception to this rule because TF2 is certainly a PWP (Plot? What plot?) game, meaning once I had a handle on the characters I could literally make up whatever I felt like without fear of breaking canon or violating something important. Even with Deadpool, I'd need to know more of his story and games than I do.

I'm not all that much of a Gamer. I like some of the older JRPGs, I like the Metroid series, I like a few of the more unique Wii games...but most modern games just don't grab me at all...and I can't stand MMOs or games that are made to resemble MMOs.
And it's been so long since I've played Warcraft or StarCraft (three computers ago) that I don't remember any of it...and even then, there's no real central character they could be raised by.

I went through all the animes I know with the friend I talked this over with already. This is the list I came up with that met the requirements for the stories I needed.
The list:
1. Neither plot is completely broken (this invalidated several animes.)
2. The character results in neither being over nor underpowered (this eliminated putting Rarity into Yu-gi-oh, for example).
3. A working plot (this eliminated using Pokémon)
4. Enough time within the game timeline for the pony in question to grow up (this eliminated nearly all the animes I knew).
5. Being familiar enough with the series that research time per chapter is less than writing time per chapter (this eliminated the Dragon Ball sequence).

Thank you for this feedback. I will be going with these four - am currently in fact watching some GoW playthroughs to determine where I'm adding Pinkie so I can get what I'm going for (currently thinking between the end of Ascension and the beginning of Chains, which will have Pinkie there for Chains, GoW 1, Ghost of Sparta, Betrayal, and everything thereafter), and the others are rather easy to work with, once I decide when to have Dante get AJ (I'm honestly leaning towards before DMC 3 in continuity, with Dante finding AJ and then deciding to keep her when he discovers an adorable pony calling him 'Daddy' is a chick magnet).
