McDonald's Monopoly season begins & doing it the Rarity way. · 6:57pm Sep 30th, 2014

I just proudly kicked off the online play cycle with my typical first-day 0-for-10. (At this point, it's traditional.) No codes in my mailbox yet, but it's early.

I wanted to make a really minor blog post to pass on a suggestion. Every year, I wind up with a lot of physical pieces, which includes more food wins than I can reasonably (and healthily) eat before the redemption period runs out. To me, the single best use for those excess food wins is donating them to a food bank.

It may sound silly, passing little bits of plastic-coated paper over and calling it a food donation. But a hot meal is a hot meal. A lot of states won't charge sales tax after the instant win piece is subtracted out, so it often wins up being entirely free. Some McDonald's will accept multiple pieces at once. Burger, fries, smoothie. It keeps people going. And to some degree, McDonald's counts on a very large percentage of pieces never being peeled or redeemed. They can afford a few extra free servings.

So if you can't eat the results from all those Medium Fries pieces... there are people who really need the chance at them.

Just a thought.

I almost feel bad for never eating at McDonalds now.... almost.

That sounds like a marvelous idea. :raritywink:

Hey, that's a great idea (if I ate at McDonald's ever).
