Dragon Dicks Referenced in IDW MLP Comics · 7:34pm Sep 28th, 2014

For those of you who read the My Little Pony comics published by IDW, you may be aware of an incident which happened recently involving Dragon Dicks. (Sadly, I'm not talking about Spike's twin Rarity ravishers.)

Dragon Dicks is a blog for the artist and Social Justice Warrior "Cutosphere," who was one of the biggest supporters of the "Down With Molestia" movement. Cutoshpere uses Dragon Dicks to make misandrist statements and express her hatred of bronies.

"If someone introduces themselves to me as a 'brony' I immediately assume that they’re either a) enviably ignorant as to the grossness of the fandom or b) are well aware of it but don’t care so either way I don’t feel comfortable around them." -Cutoshere, Dragon Dicks
"Fallout Equestria shouldn’t have been about MLP horses in the Fallout setting it should have been about bronies trying to survive in a post apocalyptic wasteland, drinking toilet water and having lonely wanks in dark abandoned warehouses." -Cutoshere, Dragon Dicks

What does this self-proclaimed misandrist have to do with IDW publishing? Ted Anderson, one of the writers on the My Little Pony comics, is a fan of Cutosphere's work. He's pictured below holding up a comic he wrote while wearing a shirt illustrated by Cutosphere that reads "Literally Anything Before Bros."

I can ignore the double chin, but not the double standard.

Not content with being kindred spirits, Anderson took things to the next level and actually included Cutosphere's OC in the special 2014 MLP Annual comic.

Anderson wasn't subtle about it, either. Even though the coloring is different, there's no mistake about who that OC is supposed to be.

The Dragon Dicks blog boasted about her OC's inclusion in the comics.

Given what we know, it's a safe bet that Anderson is the unnamed "writer for the official My Little Pony comics" who thanked Cutoshere for "telling off those gross bronies."

As a group, bronies aren't gross. The only thing gross in this scenario is how grossly unprofessional Anderson has acted and continues to act.

If he doesn't want "gross bronies" to read his stories then maybe he shouldn't be writing for My Little Pony.

Dragon Dicks is a blog that primarily mocks bronies and advocates direct physical violence against them, and many others. In addition, Cutosphere profits from selling unlicensed MLP merchandise directed towards violence against "bronies" and boys, which Ted Anderson proudly advertises for. He's said he'd like to see the "Fluttershy: I hate all boys" image on a shirt or tattoo.

Anderson has repeatedly shown support for Cutosphere. He has reblogged her hateful comments about the very audience he writes for. I'm tired of people hating on bronies and trying to shame them into leaving the fandom. And now we have an SJW who proudly and publicly hates bronies gloating about her OC being canon.

IDW is currently investigating the incident.

Anderson responded to all the criticism he's received on the IDW message boards.

Satire is defined as "the use of humor, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize people's stupidity or vices." I fail to see the satire in wanting to see all bronies forced to live in an apocalyptic wasteland. That's sounds vindictive.

Anderson later went on to undermine his apology by commenting on a different message board.

Anderson's comments about "reverse racism and reverse sexism" are suggesting that people who say things like "kill all whites" and "kill all boys" are from harmless minorities with no real power and shouldn't be taken seriously, which sounds pretty patronizing. Fury Belle recently tackled the issue of how Ted Anderson wouldn't recognize genuine misandry if it ran up and kicked him in the crotch. [Warning! Contains NSFW language!]

This incident has been especially difficult for me, since I've collected all the comics up to this point and founded the IDW MLP Comics group on FIMfiction.net. For the record, I'm not advocating that bronies should boycott IDW. I'm not asking for Ted Anderson to resign. When Social Justice Warriors see something that upsets them, they work to tear it down, but that's not the brony way of doing things. We love and tolerate. We need to let Ted Anderson know that we're not upset; just disappointed. We need to let IDW know that we don't appreciate one of their employees calling their customers "gross." A sincere apology from Ted Anderson addressed to the brony community would be nice, in addition to a resolution to avoid putting divisive OC's in future comics.

Ted Anderson isn't the first person to include his views on social issues in his work. In one of my Rule 34 blog posts, I talked about another comic book writer who used the medium of graphic novels to promote feminist ideals, but the creator of Wonder Woman never advocated misandry.

This also isn't the first controversial cameo to appear in My Little Pony. The Pinkie Apple Pie episode premiered January 11, 2014. There was a lot of hype built up, because the animatic of the "Apples to the Core" was presented during the 2013 Comic-Con. What people weren't anticipating was a "blink and you'll miss it" cameo by a ponified version of Slenderman.

This seemed like a harmless inclusion in a show targeted at young girls, but the cameo was tragic in hindsight when just four months later, in the Milwaukee suburb of Waukesha, Wisconsin, two 12-year-old girls allegedly lured a friend into the woods and stabbed her 19 times as an offering to Slenderman.

According to police, the assailants had been plotting the crime for months. According to the criminal complaint, Morgan Geyser and Anissa Weier discovered Slender Man on Creepypasta and believed that he was real. In early 2014, they decided to kill someone for Slender Man to prove their dedication to him. One month after the Pinkie Apple Pie episode aired, the girls decided to carry out their act in May. The girls stabbed the victim 19 times, piercing her liver, pancreas and stomach, barely missing an artery near her heart. The good news is the victim was discharged from the hospital a week after the attack and started walking again. There's no evidence to suggest that the inclusion of Slenderman in My Little Pony had anything to do with the stabbing. It's just a horrible coincidence which could've been a PR nightmare for Hasbro if someone attempted to make a connection. All it would take is to say that the girls watched Pinkie Apple Pie, saw the Slenderman cameo and thought that he was attempting to contact them. This also addresses the issue of gender inequality. Whenever a young girl commits an act of violence, it makes national news. If Geyser and Weier were boys, would the media coverage have been the same?

In all this discussion of Social Justice Warriors "hating all boys" and disparity in violent crime coverage based on the gender of the accused, I think it's worth pointing out that Lauren Faust took special care to expose misandry disguised as feminism. Remember the "Equal Fights" episode of The Powerpuff Girls? Femme Fatale was a villain who manipulated the Powerpuff Girls by convincing them to hate "all boys."

We see the Powerpuff Girls frightening boys and men, while Femme Fatale has free reign over the city. After an intervention from some of the women in town, the Powerpuff Girls learn the difference between real feminism and misandry. The Powerpuff Girls teach Femme Fatale an important lesson about Susan B. Anthony, who was arrested for attempting to cast a ballot in a time when women weren't allowed to vote. The authorities weren't going to send her to jail because she was a woman. They didn't view her as a threat to be taken seriously. Susan B. Anthony didn't want special treatment and demanded that she be sent to jail, like any man who broke the law. This is a very important message for children to learn. Lauren Faust, and by extension My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, doesn't promote the kind of misandrist feminism that people like Dragon Dicks constantly spew all over the Internet.

Equal Fights has been the subject of controversy, as there's been arguments over whether or not the episode sends out a positive message of feminism. Lauren Faust has even confirmed that this episode was an old shame of hers, as she wasn't sure if the show was the proper way to teach feminism. I think it works just fine. It paints a picture of what real feminism is by showing us what it isn't. It isn't a hatred of men, but a desire for respect and equal treatment.

Ted Anderson can associate with whomever he wants, but the things one does online have repercussions in the real world. Just ask Jason Biggs.

Since 2012, Jason Biggs voiced Leonardo on Nickelodeon's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. He was fired from the series after posting dozens of vulgar, misogynistic comments on Twitter. Nicktoons Twitter account for the TMNT show goes by the name of @TMNTMaster, and made the mistake of linking Jason's personal account to theirs.

Many of the things he’s posted are not appropriate for anyone under 18-years-old. This caused many parents to demand that Biggs be fired for his constant crass comments. The pressure to have Biggs fired has been mounting since September 4th, 2012 for all his tasteless Twitter posts. [Warning! Contains NSFW language!]

The real icing on the cake, though, is who they got to replace the sex-crazed misogynist as the new voice of Leonardo.

None other than Seth Green, a famous brony.

Isn't it ironic how bronies are maligned as sexist bigots, yet when real misogyny rears its ugly head, who is called in to clean up the mess? A brony.

I'm...this makes me very sad.

A sincere apology from Ted Anderson addressed to the brony community would be nice

An apology isn't really going to do anything.
It will just be a half assed one that doesn't really mean anything like what celebrities or politicians do when the offend the weak sensibilities of the public.

*quickly scanned the post*

Ergh, so what? Why all the drama?

I didn't know about that whole controversy in the comics, but it does sound like a pretty bad situation from what you've said. Thing is, considering this Dragon Dicks is such a misandrist (I assume that's the word), how does a man like this Ted Anderson fellow become friends with her? Not to mention the obvious nastiness of it all. :rainbowhuh:

Funny thing about following you that I've just realised: I genuinely don't remember why on earth I started in the first place, because most of what you write has got to be some of the most disgusting, depraved, and downright vomit-inducing 'literature' that I have ever had the good fortune not to read! :rainbowlaugh:

That all being said, if that's your bag, well... I think you need your head examined but I'm not going to blaze you for it. :raritywink:

All that aside, though, the thing I kept following you for is your blogs, 'cos you deal with such wide-ranging themes and issues in such a sensible, professional way that it's honestly hard to believe you're the same person who wrote a ponified version of that manga about a girl who gets those weird, itchy holes in her... :pinkiesick:

So yeah, as far as blogging goes: keep up the good work! :yay:
As for the stories... :unsuresweetie:
...if you must, I suppose...

I did not know about this. I'm glad I do now, even if it's quite unpleasant. You're right, this is more disappointing than anything else - if Mr. Anderson genuinely believes that Cutosphere is a satirist, then he is staggeringly naive. But the saddest thing for me are his comments on "reverse racism" and "reverse sexism". The idea that white people cannot experience racism is frankly ridiculous (and I am saying this as someone who is definitely not white), as is the idea that sexism cannot exist against men. The very culture he is embracing has transformed all men into monster under the bed - that is , by definition, sexist. And while it may not be as prevalent or harmful as the sexism that many women go through every day, that doesn't make it okay. You can't fight "fire with fire" - the point of equality is not that everyone is equally hateful to each other.

Sorry for the rant. This was a interesting and well researched blog post. Thank you for sharing.

These are the times, and it's culturally debilitating.

~ Bidibodi Bidibu

This might not have the hype of Derpy-Gate, but the implications are even worse. I wasn't even aware of the situation. Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I agree with this especially:

A sincere apology from Ted Anderson addressed to the brony community would be nice, in addition to a resolution to avoid putting divisive OC's in future comics.

This was another solid article and my heart goes out to the editors trying to cope with this mess.

I'm a bit bemused by your inclusion of the Slenderman case. There was no suggestion the girls spotted him in MLP and that's what led them to their idea. The impression I got from it was that they were mentally disturbed and would've fixated on something else if they hadn't spotted Slenderman first.

I'm just interested to understand your reasons for including it as to me it felt oddly out of place, and I'm not used to that in your blog posts, so I'm happy to think it's possible I simply didn't understand the connection.

This is some excellent reporting. :derpyderp1:

I was wondering what the story was here. Thank you for a concise review of the situation.

Misandry is awesome. Guys who whine about it need to stop being worthless, burn their fedoras, and read some damn Wodehouse.

Also, bronies are not the fandom. Lotta motherfuckers in the MLP fandom who don't class themselves as bronies with good reason, including me.

Why the FUCK aren't there more people like you, Bronystories?

I'm all for equality, but it's shit like these SJW and double-standard assholes that really piss me off. And these people aren't even the majority! They just scream the loudest.

:facehoof:

As usual, you're blogs are insightful, professional, well researched, and well presented. As I said at the beginning of this comment, we need more people like you. Way more.

Keep it up.

Yeesh. After reading this, seconded. I have an account on Fimfiction but I'm really not all that enthused with brony culture and this is an example of why. Lot of weird kneejerk reactions. Kind of reminds me of furry fandom, where the people involved seem like they spend more time defending how okay it is to be part of the fandom than actually enjoying the thing they're fans of.

I'm not saying it's never okay to lash out but this is... juvenile. Everything I can see about Dragon Dicks indicates it's mostly just the equivalent of an artist screaming her frustrations at the world. Are you going to sit there and tell me that your unfiltered frustrations never result in perhaps regrettably bitchy things-

-well, you could, but then this blog post wouldn't exist, would it?

This is just... absolutely goofy, really. The misandry here seems more tongue in cheek than your reaction- and the reaction is one of "rally the base! Defend the fortress! STOP PEOPLE SAYING THINGS! They're coming to take our fandom!"

You may not use the words. But you can damn well use the tone.

That honestly explains some of the feelings I got while reading some of the male scenes in that two parter. The guys were all extra stupid and extra worthless. I chalked it up to that's just being the cops, but some scenes just made me question some of the gags.

And oh my goodness I don't think I've ever been so disgusted and racially offended AND slandered (libeled I mean) in one fucking sentence as I have just now.

THAT MAN SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO BE ASSOCIATED WITH LAUREN FAUST'S FiM CHARACTERS IN ANY OFFICIAL FORM!

I don't care if he stays with IDW, but that THING needs to be removed from any and all things MLP STAT!

Fucking twisting and inserting hate and discriminatory bullshit non-staff OCs who PROMOTE THE PHYSICAL HARMING OF AN INDIVIDUAL FOR THEIR GENDER AND ENJOYMENT OF A FUCKING ANIMATED SERIES!

If ever there was a single disgusting image I'd associate with backhanded racism and hate, it would be that person THING right there!

LET ME GET A TICKET TO THAT BOOTH AND SHOW THAT ASSHOLE HOW POWERLESS A 'MINORITY' IS YOU RACIST HATE SPREADING DISEASE!

Put him on Ninja Turtles or something else, but him working and tainting and bashing those of a series I love and appreciate the message that Lauren spread, the one who showed me feminism isn't dead it's just drowned out by discriminatory acts like HIS TO WHICH I PRAY someone knocks his fucking teeth in, fuck tolerance, that racist and hate supporting scumbag needs to get his nasty sweaty dragon dildo using hands off anything MLP related!

I've never been this disgusted at someone before. WHY ARE YOU WORKING AT A THAT MAKES COMICS FOR OLDER FANS IF YOU DON'T WANT ANYONE EVEN TO READ YOUR TRASHY STORIES ANYWAYS?

Get the FUCK OUT!

THE COMICS were MADE for BRONIES the VERY TARGET DEMOGRAPHIC you are BASHING AND PROMOTING PEOPLE TO BRING PHYSICAL HARM TO AND TRY TO 'push them away'? That's NOT gonna happen! So GO TO SOME OTHER PLACE AND KEEP YOUR FILTH OFF MLP!

ugh

Fucking ugly as sin on the inside as he is on the outside. Scratch that, nothing's uglier than the sick shit he thinks about! :pinkiesick:

“What ho!" I said.
"What ho!" said Motty.
"What ho! What ho!"
"What ho! What ho! What ho!"
After that it seemed rather difficult to go on with the conversation.”

As someone who's following (but not directly involved in) the GamerGate saga, this looks awfully familiar. Telling the world your core audience (and don't try to tell me that bronies aren't the comics' core audience unless you have numbers to back it up) are shitlords is not a good business plan.

2490804
Because these are the people you're sharing planet Earth with. Not only misandry and misogyny, but also corrupt politicians, rapists, murderers, assholes, cops with trigger fingers, and is filled with hate in general. If you're not the least bit concerned, then I worry for you.

Well written. I just hope that we can deal with this quickly before it turns into a big festering wound. Ted apologizes and promises to keep his personal view out of the comics, IDW updates their guidelines and processes, and we can all enjoy future comics and move on with our lives.

We love and tolerate.

Nope, turning the other cheek never works in real life.

I'm not asking for Ted Anderson to resign.

Nope, he needs to go. Just like the journalists that are currently being exposed in the course of #gamergate.

Ah, archetypes and hypocrisy :P
Would make a longer comment about it, but eh.
Do note me if someone actually mentions horsecunts or make a cunt joke though, that'd be relevant x3

On a side note; You still write anything? If so, could do something new for once. Like... I dunno, vagina prolapse deepthroating. Or make some char a "psycho bitch", have them somehow remove a stallions lower jaw, then presto. Clitoral deepthroating.
Currently myself making the world's first futa fic that doesn't contain guys with tits :rainbowwild:

All it would take is to say that the girls watched Pinkie Apple Pie, saw the Slenderman cameo and thought that he was attempting to contact them

Too true. If it happened to Invader Zim, why not MLP?

Also, the reverse sexism thing he said is total bullshit, but it reminded me of a social experiment I saw earlier this week:

Because obviously men can take anything, amirite?

Ted's two-paragraph post about "reverse-sexism" pained me to read. He seems to suggest that one cannot be discriminate a man based on his gender, despite the fact that the ratio of male to female nurses is still incredibly low.

Bleh. :pinkiesick:

2491857
The internet "social justice" crowd uses words in a different way than you or I. You can be whatever-ist, but they can't. Why? Here's a not-so-short explanation. The money quote:

If I am right, then people’s response to these words should be a frantic game of hot potato where they attack like a cornered animal against anyone who tries to use the words on them, desperately try to throw them at somebody else instead, and dispute the definitions like their lives depend on it.

And I know that social justice people like to mock straight white men for behaving in exactly that way, but man, we’re just following your lead here.

2490958
Really? I hope that was a joke, because if not, I honest expected better from you given your blogs I've read. An act of hatred is not justified by claiming that there is a greater act somewhere else. The acts of Misogyny and Misandry are equally bad. One occurs more frequently and on a larger scale, but they are at their base the exact same thing; judging someone negatively for a quality they have no control over. I have been a feminist all my life, and I will continue to be so, but I don't think you achieve any form of equality by trying to drag the other side down and I have never felt the need to do so.

That isn't equality. That isn't justice. It's revenge, and against people who probably have no control over the underlying social problems or with any real political power.

I wish you would talk about Ray Rice and Hope Solo. Ray Rice being the football player who drunkenly knocked out his wife after they got into a fight that got physical, and even with BOTH of them apologizing for their actions and moving on, people are still believing Rice is a monster and should be banned from playing ever again, instead of the 10-game suspension he is WILLINGLY taking.

And Hope Solo being the goalie on the US Olympic Soccer team, who attacked her sister and 17-year-old nephew, wore the Captain's armband recently AND if she is charged, it will only be misdemeanor assault.

And what ties it back to this blog is the core statement "to hate women is normal but hating men doesn't matter", is a simply wonderful article on The Atlantic which outright states that a woman committing battery/assault is not as bad as a man doing it because men have a "history and tradition" of doing it.

This world makes me sick.

Hear, hear! I normally avoid fandom drama of this sort, but this one... There is something wrong with showing outright contempt this way. And even if you don't want to call yourself a Brony (I do use that term for myself, btw), what difference does that make? Misandry is not forgivable simply because you think misogyny is worse. It's like saying you can't say you had a bad day because there are people starving in third-world countries. Bad is bad, not something that you measure on a scale. If it affects you personally, it does. Plain and simple. The most feminist person I know is my wife, and she despises misandry disguised as feminism. It's become something of a pet peeve for her.

Anyway, I don't want to rant. That happens enough without my help. Just again, well said.

:pinkiehappy:

Thank you for the reporting, Stories. Hopefully these lunatics will eventually peter out.

Nothing but a bunch of insane hypocrites, the whole lot of them. We never needed anything other than gender equality. To be one species, not men on this side, women on this side. But idiots like these further subdivide us with their brainless drivel and self-important armchair crusading.

We don't even need feminism, which is female-oriented. We need harmony. Everyone has problems and everyone suffers at the hands of everyone else. Male, female, black, white, straight, gay, everything and anything and everyone all the time. PEOPLE are more important than favoring divisions.

We should all be working together to fix those problems for everyone, not choosing a 'side' and only helping them. We're never going to progress as a species until we can all get on the same track.

Atheism+, Save Derpy, Donglegate, Down with Molesta, #gamergate, Dragon Dicks

Simply put, self‐proclaimed “social justice warriors” are toxic.

2490958
PROTIP: You’re male and you’ve written clop. When they say “brony” you are precisely the sort of person in their crosshairs.

2491857
Assuming you are just looking at the ratio of male and female nurses… then I think you’ve just made a non sequitur; equality of opportunity does not necessarily lead to equality of outcome.¹

As to his blatantly racist and sexist remarks? As a white who has been discriminated against by blacks for nothing more than my race,² I almost could not contain my incredulity when I first encountered this blatant double‐standard several years ago.³ I’ve long since become inured to it. The complete lack of self‐awareness is sadly typical of his ilk. They inextricably link discrimination with oppression and cannot fathom that the absence of the latter does not mean the former doesn’t exist.

¹ Women frequently make the same error when it comes to the wage‐gap (which is only made more egregious by the fact that women typically earn equal or greater pay with the exception of CEOs and the like, when you adjust for stay‐at‐home mums and the like the wage‐gap all‐but disappears) or the dearth of women in programming (which is caused by numerous factors including, but not limited to, wildly divergent interests and priorities).
² I was one of a handful of white kids attending primary school in a predominately black upper‐class suburb. When I defended myself against a bully (and only defended — I blocked and dodged, nothing more) I was punished by our teacher (whom knew full well of the bully’s tendencies) because it was clearly my fault. It was my first day and I hadn’t even interacted with the bully before his unprovoked assault. Things did not get any better. I changed schools barely a week later when it became painfully obvious that my being white meant that I was fair game. I was young enough that I didn’t even know what racism was until this incident; the thought of being racially discriminating never even occurred to me before then.
³ I’m not saying that the frequency of discrimination is the same, if anything there is almost no discrimination against whites where I live, but the blanket denial of even its possible existence was something I only encountered once SJWs started spewing their vitriol into every sphere on the ’net that I participate in. Frankly, that I should even feel the need for this disclaimer is a disturbing sign of just how polarized things are getting — it used to be that you could at least get the benefit of the doubt before people dog piled you, but nowadays…

2492656
Your comments reminds me of this iconic speech, which is high praise indeed.

2490738
2490768
It's really disheartening to know that at least one of the writers of these comics holds bronies in contempt.

2491957

"'He spoke most highly of you.'
'Really?'
'Oh, yes, he thinks a lot of you. I remember his very words. "Mr Wooster, miss," he said, "is, perhaps, mentally somewhat negligible, but he has a heart of gold."'"

2492669

'I noticed, Jeeves, that when I started telling you the bad news just now, one of your eyebrows flickered.'
'Yes, sir. I was much exercised.'
'Don't you ever get exercised enough to say "Coo!"?'
'No, sir.'
'Or "Crumbs!"?'
'No, sir.'

2490807
Yes, between the disgusting stories I've written and my meticulous record-keeping of porn statistics, I'm probably the poster boy for everything wrong with the brony fandom.

Thanks for the feedback!
I plan on continuing with my blog posts and my stories... it's just difficult to make the time to write...
:ajsleepy:

*Sigh*

This is just depressing on an uncountable number of levels. I have no special regard for Ted Anderson, and he definitely messed up and needs to apologize, but just this once I'm gonna give him the benefit of Hanlon's Razor: Never attribute to malice what can be adequately explained by stupidity. I do take heart in Bobby Curnow's post, which indicates that they seem to be taking the matter seriously.

I find it supremely ironic that the Social Justice Warrior types are ostensibly trying to change society for the better, and yet are almost universally some of the most toxic people that I've ever had the displeasure of hearing about (Then again, maybe I only hear about the toxic ones because they yell the loudest..).

And meanwhile, your stories are the height of debauchery (I love your Lyra and Bon Bon stuff), but you seem to be a really sensible even-handed guy.

Raging and toxic Social Justice Warriors who make beautiful sfw art, and really kind and cool folks who draw and write porn are two huge reasons why people should NEVER be morally judged by the content they produce.

2492756
What does that prove beyond that you have read Wodehouse?

I mean, I guess I can see why you felt the need to do that. You did state that people should read Wodehouse. Best to prove that you have lest we think less of you, yes?

If you think I'm wrong, tell me. I'm a big boy; I can take a stranger on the internet telling me I'm wrong without breaking into hysterics. If you wanted to insult me and completely avoid answering any of the actually criticisms of my reply on the other hand, the very least you could have done is be upfront about it instead of hiding behind pretension.

I genuinely thought that the man you presented yourself as in your blogs was who you really were; an intelligent person who backed up any claims with evidence, usually at length. Instead I see it was just a thin veneer hiding a smug asshole. Maybe it's my fault and I merely haven't read enough of your blogs yet.

Do you hide behind the words of others because you can’t think of any yourself to justify the blatant sexism of your original comment? Or was your original comment an attempt at a joke that lacked any of the basic hallmarks of humor and I somehow just missed that? Either way, by all means, actually attempt to debate me. Or you could go page through your assuredly numerous books for an appropriate response from someone else’s mouth.

Go on, I’ll wait

2492743

That's actually quite touching that you'd make that comparison. Thank you, Stories.

Personally, I don't really look forward to any of the comics except the ones done by Cook and Price. Price's art style and Cook's writing just seem to pop in a way none of the other writers or artists for the series manage to pull off.

But that aside, I'm honestly used to seeing feminism rear it's ugly head and spoil what was otherwise simple enjoyment. The real loss in this, in my view, would be that IDW and possibly Hasbro pull back from any more fan-creator crossover. Remember what happened with Derpygate?

Personally, I would like to see the odd fan-made ponysona show up in the background of the comics form time to time. Price's tendency to toss in pony versions of famous people and characters is always a joy, leading me to comb through the backgrounds for hidden gags. But now that someone else on the team has used that creative freedom to advocate for something as distasteful as extreme feminism, I worry that other people ad IDW will be put under harder, and honestly unneeded, restrictions.

As I always say.
It just takes one idiot to ruin things for everyone.

I feel the need to qualify. This isn't about feminism, this is about Misandry. One seeks to raise women up, and is perfectly ok, when the people speaking about it are intelligent and respectful (like a lot of social agendas). Misandry is about tearing men down and like all sexism is the purview of idiots and the misinformed.

It's just sad how some people can be so hateful.

Not much else to say about the subject.

I dunno Stories, every time someone cries "misandry" that person soon gets discredited and labeled as a lonely loser who hates women. It doesn't really seem safe to make this argument if you've got something between your legs.

I won't actually argue with the misandry-fearing slice of the FIM fandom for the same reason I won't argue with young-Earth creationists, goldbugs, or 9/11 truthers. There is no need to get into a detailed argument about the false microevolution/macroevolution dichotomy or argue about the melting point of steel girders when simple mockery will do just fine. Thus, more Wodehouse:

I mused awhile.
”You mean this, Jeeves?”

”Yes, sir.”

”You have thought it all out carefully, weighing the pros and cons, balancing this against that?”

” Yes, sir.”

”And you are resolved?”

”Yes, sir. If it is really your intention to continue playing that instrument, I have no option but to leave.”

The Wooster blood boiled over. Circumstances of recent years have so shaped themselves as to place this blighter in a position which you might describe as that of a domestic Mussolini: but, forgetting this and sticking simply to cold fact, what is Jeeves, after all? A valet. A salaried attendant. And a fellow simply can’t go on truckling—do I mean truckling ? I know it begins with a ”t“—to his valet forever. There comes a moment when he must remember that his ancestors did dashed well at the Battle of Crecy and put the old foot down. This moment had now arrived.

”Then, leave, dash it’.”

”Very good, sir.”

You're equating the idea that people are not inherently better or worse than anyone else because of their gender with young-Earth creationists, goldbugs, or 9/11 truthers?

Well quote all the Wodehouse you want. Eloquence aside, you're just a fucking moron.

And really, you shouldn't be quoting from Wodehouse. Comparing his works to your own posts just shows how bereft of anything close to resembling intelligence they really are.

This is such a blatant example of ad hominem. You refuse to actually argue the topic, and so instead attack me directly. Hell, your argument contains a couple more fallacies but I can't be bothered wasting more time on you.

And I'm not denying that there are people, like in the oft and rightly maligned 'men's rights' movement, that use a cry of misandry to cloak their own misogyny. But that's not what this is about. I despise sexism in all forms, just like I despise racism in all forms. A bunch of women attacking a man is just as bad as a bunch of men attacking a woman, and in a better society neither would ever happen.

But you don't build a better society by determining that half the population needs to be teared down, you build a better society by raising the other half of the population up. Like I said, you're asking for revenge, I'm asking for equality. People should be treated and judged fairly and not on things they had no choice over. For example, whether you are a man, woman, black, white, whatever; you are also a massive prick, and that is why I have chosen to hate you.

But I guess it that sense I can completely understand how I'm just a nut-job.

The worst part is how the power ponies comic was ACTUALLY GOOD too

You make a lot of good points. I especially like this:

Raging and toxic Social Justice Warriors who make beautiful sfw art, and really kind and cool folks who draw and write porn are two huge reasons why people should NEVER be morally judged by the content they produce.

I was second-guessing myself for addressing this topic. I've written some of the rapiest clopfics out there. I was worried that people like Cutophere would point to writers like me as part of the problem. Thanks for reminding me that content is no indication of character. For Social Justice Warriors like Cutosphere, their art is an tranquil island amidst the toxic sea of their personality. My toxicity is confined only to the stories I write. I have no hatred for anyone.

Couldn't have said it better myself. You want an example of real feminism?

"I want every version of a woman and a man to be possible. I want women and men to be able to be full-time parents or full-time working people or any combination of the two. I want both to be able to do whatever they want sexually without being called names. I want them to be allowed to be weak and strong and happy and sad -- human, basically. The fallacy in Hollywood is that if you’re making a "feminist" story, the woman kicks ass and wins. That’s not feminist, that’s macho. A movie about a weak, vulnerable woman can be feminist if it shows a real person that we can empathize with." -Natalie Portman

I call a spade a spade. If Cutosphere was making the exact same comments about a certain ethnicity, I'd call her a racist. If she said them about gays and lesbians, I'd call her a homophobe. She said "all men are scum" so I'm calling her a misandrist.

Some extreme feminists have been wearing the title of misandry like a badge of honor. It's turned into a meme where any minor slight against the male gender is labeled as "misandry."

Using the word so flippantly is coming back to haunt the misandrists. You can't advocate for the discrimination of any group of people without eventually being exposed as a bigot.

We all know the real reason why your answers are so non sequitur. The truth is that Wodehouse gives you wood.

Quoting literary pieces when you don't have an argument doesn't make you have one, it just makes you look like a pretentious asshat.

I've expected better of you, but oh well.

It was more along the lines of drawing a comparison between the comic including an OC with misandrist overtones to the animated series including an Internet meme with frighteningly violent overtones. Slenderman leads children to murder. It's not a good idea to include him in My Little Pony. Cutosphere encourages violence based on a person's gender. It's not a good idea to include her OC in the My Little Pony comics.

I hope that cleared up where I was coming from.

Thanks! Hopefully, we can get another update before too long. IDW moved the discussion to its own thread, so as not to tie up their main boards any longer.

Some of the restrictions placed by the moderator are a little dubious.

- Cuteosphere's character and views are not up for debate. The only thing relevant here is the question of whether her pony art is satire or not and the fact that it is offensive to some.
- unless they directly relate to the comic or the fandom (i.e. are about Bronies or MLP), I will not allow discussion of Mr. Anderson's ideological views.

I can't believe that IDW is even debating whether or not Cutosphere's vitriol is satire or not!
