Those who are gone, but never forgotten... · 9:46pm Sep 22nd, 2014

14 years ago, my great-grandmother passed away at the age of 86. She raised me almost all of my life, and her death profoundly affected me.

Mamaw was born on September 22, 1914. Exactly 100 years ago today.

Today, my aunt and I drove up to Livingston to put flowers on her grave. On the way, we stopped at a convenience store and bought a small bag of orange slices, which were her favorite candy.

When we got to the cemetery, we each ate one while standing over her grave, and then left one on her headstone.

We also had some misadventures on our return trek, such as the power going out at the restaurant we stopped for lunch at on the way back (we had finished eating and were actually paying our check when this happened) and getting stuck behind a convoy of 20 dumptrucks on a little detour.

Happy birthday, Mamaw.

That's really nice that you left the sweet on her grave.:pinkiesad2:

Sounds like you really miss her...:fluttercry:

But, you can still remember her, and as long as you remember her, a small part of her lives in you...

That was a beautiful story and my heart truly go's out to you.:raritydespair::raritycry::applecry::fluttercry::fluttershbad::fluttershyouch::pinkiesad2::fluttershysad::heart::heart::heart::heart:.
