Existentialism (aka 1stworldprobs) · 8:50pm Sep 21st, 2014

This song speaks to me. Like, a lot. A few word substitutions (crown/wings/princess) and it's essentially the limbo I've been in for the last four or so years of my life. This past year especially. I graduated with my BA only pretty recently (just last year, actually); Screwed around, screwed up and stretched out that part of my life like a lamer, sadder Van Wilder. Suffice it to say I followed the motions and had no clear idea as to what I wanted to do or where I wanted to go and thus no way to figure out how to get there. Vague general aspirations yes, workable action plan no. Add in the state of the nebulous "Economy" and that makes for a bit of anxiety like what Twilight expresses in the song, which got me philosoraptoring. The idea of belonging, of having a part to play, is a universal human condition. We approach it in different ways. We frame the issue in a manner that fits our individual understandings of the world. It's a matter of autonomy, of meeting our own and/or others' expectations, it's giving our life lasting fulfillment. Humans are weird like that, eh? Being aware that we're alive a posteriori, rather than simply accepting it a priori.

With that said, I'm shipping out to basic training next month~

Addendum.
There's a bit of Chicken v Egg regarding taking inspiration of pones, at least in my case. On the one hand I'm like "yeah, I can empathize and extrapolate that one thing with something in my life." On the other I'm like "I should just get on with accomplishing irl things cuz pones isn't directly helping my situation." Is it escapism? In my case it might very well be. Or maybe a crutch to keep on keepin' on. Anecdotal evidence surely exists of other people achieving great things after pones, of other people with good solid lives also enjoying pones, of people that get sucked into pones and lose their way.

I'll go back to slowly updating my fics, now.

And now for something completely different

There is some strange sublemnal flicker in that first YouTube video. I caught it on the part where Luna is singing her part about spreading your wings. Dunno if there is more but to tired to check.
