Should anyone else join The God Squad? · 4:43am Sep 21st, 2014
So, I am trying to bank a bunch of chapters during my vacation, that way there isn't a huge lull, and as I am getting near the end of Season 2 and planning out Season 3 I am undecided on the makeup of the God Squad. Naturally Luna, Celestia, Tydal, Cadence, Shining and Chrysalis will remain part of the team. Discord will also be a part of the team full time by the end of Season 2.
There are some other characters I have already considered about allowing to join the squad but the issue that always arises is how big the team should be. Right now it is a six man/pony/capricorn/changeling team, and Discord makes seven. What should be the limit though? Keep it at the seven? Cut it down (maybe you guys want Discord not to join or would love to see someone booted off... I can't imagine the team without the Core 6 but maybe you'd like it to be a smaller group). Or maybe you want the roster to continue to grow and have any of the following join:
Princess Twilight Sparkle: Let her have some mommy and me time with Luna
Polar Vortex: Tydal's favorite brother AND a character voiced by Alec Baldwin!
Philomenia: The sarcastic phoenix that only Celestia understands
Mary Sue: Even though she is one of the Doctor's companions she is a deity...
Fuzzy Thinker: Yes, add the Dumbledore parody to the team!
Starswirl the Bearded: He could either be alive or his skull could be part of the team.
The Evil Muffin: Just make him officially a member.
Fluffle Puff: Give Chrysalis something to cuddle
Nyx: Poor thing, I don't think anyone but me remembers her... (looks around awkwardly)
Let me know what you think of the currently Core 6 line-up, Discord's upcoming joining of the Squad, and who else you'd love to see join the Squad (either full time or for as a recurring member)
Also, why are none of you making Tydal plushes? He could hunt down the other, weaker, plushes and beat them up!

Man I fucking hate Tydal. He was OK as a cameo in Origins but I hate how much he has taken over in GS. I hate him, I hate his people, I hate his lore, I hate everything he stands for, and I hate how everypony around him is undermined for his characters benefit. I can only enjoy your stories where he is a cameo at most.
I mean is it not enough to stretch setting and characterization and lore to the snapping point? Do we need to glorify some sea-pony wannabe unlikable Gary-Stu who is always wrong but somehow is always justified?

2471520 Tydal doesn't bother me that much, though a storyline that doesn't have him stealing the spotlight would be nice. Like Twilight Velvet deciding that she's had enough, and laying down the law to Luna and telling her that in no uncertain terms that Twilight is Velvet's daughter and if Luna want's a daughter that badly she should go get her own. It doesn't go well and Luna challenges her to a one-on-one contest and cage match for the right to be formally declared Twilight's mother.

i would leave the team the way it is now with team ups with the other gods form time to time and then at somepoint the god squad gets captured and the others work together to save them
The pheonix or the muffin at most, and I'd be wary of putting Discord in as well. I think he's only fun small doses.
Twilight and Nyx (if just for the wtf element, maybe an 'I am my own Grandpa' parody)
But definitely Twilight, she is more than unstable enough to be a full time member. Discord could be reduced to supporting cast, the squad is crazy enough on their own.

If you have to add one more, I say go with Starswirl the bearded. He was hilarious in the comics and I think he'd be a good fit here.
Twilight, for more mommy/daughter moments and to see just how much she over shadows Shining Armor. Also, in the first season Cadance mentioned that she agreed to marry Shining because he said that she could have sex with Twilight if she did, so i can't help but feel if Twilight became a permanent member that Cadance would try to seduce her every chance she got which could lead to some very amusing moments

*chuckles* Well, I won't be adding more Tydal... more likely you'll see the Squad split up more so characters get chapters to shine... kinda like how WOLVES! was just the original team and the Three's a Crowd chapter will feature just Shining and Chrysalis.

personally, I think this is the best course of action: having the team separate on occasion and alltogheder the other times; adding semi-recursive character from time to time
following 7 characters + the occasional bystander is not easy, and lose most of it's importance if some of the does not attivelly take parts in the events;
I'd like to suggest another recurring joke: the almost-killing of Shining Armor
prctically, SA looks like the weakest link in the group to possible enemies, but his statu sof god of breckfast gave him a passive resistance to thing that would kill regular pony, lessening the effect. or the "poison is laxative effect" , as I call it

It is coming before the end of this season. The plan is to do a one to two chapter arc that will show how they got married. It will star most of the Squad, along with Twilight, her parents, and a few other characters.
Oh, and Los Pegasus. Because where else would you have a quicky wedding?

I am finding it also helps when it comes to plotting out the stories. The Squad is like the Justice League and it works out well to have the Core 6 with Discord as the first of the beings that will join from time to time. It also is fun to have different characters pair up and go on adventures just the two or three of them. For example, I am really looking forward to Chrysalis and Shining working together in the upcoming chapter.

I prefer the Core Six with Discord for the most part. The others I would like to see in supporting roles and on occasion see some chapters that focuses more on a few members rather than all of them for every chapter. I would very much like if you did write some Luna and Twilight chapters in Season 3 and maybe add Nyx into the mix. I think with a core seven you have a good number without being too many characters.
I say Fluffle Puff should join. She's the ultimate towel, and you should always have a towel when you travel.
I say Nyx, Twilight, and Fluffle Puff, if not on a full-time basis, than at least let them have a few moments. Seriously, I want to see Twilight and Luna's Excellent Mother/Daughter Road Trip!
philomena would be the funniest out of the choices the other characters are only funny in short spurts put them in too much and they will quickly lose their novelty, same could be said about philomena too... but im not sure sense its only celestia that can hear her. it would be good for a whole celestia steadily losing her sanity bit
I like the Core six + guest dynamic. The thing is that your version of a lot of characters are just too good and there's not enough time for everypony.
I'd like it if you could find a way to bring certain clown-eating baby Cybertronian (or is it American with Cybertronian parents?)

If you can make the exception to include other people's characters, I would recommend my OC's Ricky and Kul'as. Ricky is a wirewolf and in my universe he's the love interest of Celestia. Both him and Celestia could try and confess their love to each other but are to shy to do so or are interrupted He could be just like Shining and the only sane one. Kul'as is evil incarnate and was responsible for Luna becoming Nightmare Moon, death of Tau Sunflare's physical form, and Discord going nuts causing him to try and spread chaos. Also the spreader of Cakelestia and the rumors she has a big butt. At times he appears physically as a four armed biped built similar to Tirek but minus the centaur part and his head is more crocidillian in appearence. Other times he's a cloud smoke (much better than Wiggles) with his head out. He also does it with Mirrorverse Luna sometimes just to make Luna puke. His role would be the douchebag everyone(except for Cadence because Kul'as was B.C. before Cadence) hates (on account he killed their mom) and Ricky is the buffer with Shining to make sure they don't kill him except for the one occasion that Celestia, Luna, Chrysalis, Cadence, and Kul'as performed If I Didn't Have You from Quest for Camelot as the song by their mother in the human world emulated their relationship woth each other. With Twilight and Spike coming in at the Elvis part.
Twilight: We all know she's completely crazy, so yeah, she's a natural choice
Nyx: Who doesn't love her and besides a filly's touch could make the thing more chaotic or you could just get the CMC
Starswirl: he ain't got too much speaking stuff in a lot of fics i see so why not
Philomena: Sure, why not? A Sarcastic bird is nice.

To be honest, Discord is a guy you need in bursts otherwise his character gets boring and predictable.
Those are my thoughts but i'll enjoy this regardless of choice
