On this day, in 1984, 'More than Meets the Eye part one premiered on television.
I watched it when it premiered. I have concrete memories of watching this with my Generation One Bluestreak when I was five years old, going on six. For a show designed to sell toys, it went above and beyond anyone's expectations. Now, thirty years later, it's still going strong. And I'll be along for the ride.
Happy birthday, Transformers! And many, many more!

Red Alert was my first, back then the bigger models were quite a hunk of metal rather than sissy plastic.
Can't remember watching the first episode (I expect if didn't appear in the UK for a while) I do remember the animated movie though, now that was a tour de force.
You know, I was never really into Transformers... maybe I should start. Where would you suggest someone begin?
...Wow. 30 years. I-I can't believe it. I wasn't born at the time, but it was pretty dang close! I was born in 1986 around the time a certain movie came out. My first experience with the show, was that movie. It was one of the first big VHS things I could remember watching. I own the DVD and I loved it to this day. When I first watched this, I had no idea why Optimus's death was a big deal (still don't) or anything else about the universe. I just remmeber loving watching th adventure that took place. The songs, the characters, and story stayed with me. So happy 30th TF, here's something to honor it

Yes I am a major TF nerd for Generation One.
I'm 34 years old, and Blaster was my first Transformer, followed by, curiously enough Soundwave (who if memory serves, came with Buzzsaw. I always thought that was odd. Since Buzzsaw was so rarely seen in the series, one would think he would have been packed with Laserbeak.)
