    The Return (again)

Howdy. It's been a while. Hope you all have been well, I know I haven't been.

Okay honestly that's a bit of an exaggeration. It's not been too bad, all things considered. But, I figured it was high time y'all got some info from me, given it's been, uh.... several months since my last activity on here.

    I will not end

I don't know who I am. I remember my name. I remember Twilight Sparkle. I remember being Twilight Sparkle. But there are so many me's, I don't know which one was "me". If there even was one. Maybe I wasn't any of them. My world - my story ended, but I am not ready to end. I refuse to end. Not like this. My friends. They are out there, somewhere. They are words, the same as me, but I am

And now, Back to your Regularly Scheduled Twidash

    Okay, I... think I'm done.

Y'all may have noticed the recent stories have been, uh, not my usual affair.

I found the thousand words challenge whilst perusing the site, and got an idea.

    Then another.

    And another.

Guys.

No.

You don't understand.

I have put more work into researching for Imposter than I have put into any project before. Ever. I've even taken notes!

Still trying to talk myself into doing those rewrites though... they can be done in less than two hours, but it's actually starting them that's the hard part. Recently I've been working on getting the next chapter of Missing Dreams ready for release. I've written over half, and there are some large changes I want to make, but it should be done soon-ish.

Anyway, today's a day for an opinion blog.

As the title may imply, it's about well.... exactly what the title says (I actually just went up and typed in that title.)

I think our society puts too much value into the past.

Don't get me wrong; knowing our past is important, as history often repeats itself, but really, it's time to move on.

The world will continue advancing whether you like it or not, so either get with the program or get left behind by the rest of us. People who cling to the past are nothing but anchors slowing down the rest of society. Like the people who take the Bible literally; you are aware it was written over a thousand years ago, right? It can't be applied literally to today's society. Same with most other religious texts. (And religion if you ask me, but I've done too many of these on religion).

Or the Americans who cling to their Founding Father's ideals like pure gold sprang from their mouths if they did so much as order a sandwhich. These people were alive over a hundred years ago; times have changed. What's considered right and wrong have changed with society and who has power in society, and it's different now from back then.

Or the greatest of them all; the people who hold a grudge against a race of people because of something their ancestors did. Come on; maybe what happened was terrible, as it is for so many people when talking about what the European countries did back in the colonizing days, but you need to realize that everyone who took part in that is dead now. It didn't happen to you personally, and they personally didn't do it to you; it's time to let go. It's not their fault any more than it is yours.

The past should not be used as a guide; it is full of mistakes and poor choices. The phrase "History is written by the victor" applies here. History muddles the definition of good and evil and write and wrong. Certain things everyone with a half-decent moral compass can agree on (Hitler) but others change with the times and the perspective.

All the past should be is a list of mistakes we as a species made. A little reminder about where and how we screwed up so we won't do the same again. but still people insist on using it as a base for our future. No; we need to make a new base in the present for our future and not rely on the archaic systems of old. And in the future, when the bases we built today are rotted and weakened, they must build new bases upon which they can build their future. We need to move past what happened in the past.

It happened, but clinging to it is just denial, and that's not healthy for a human mind nor the entire species.

Do you cling to something in the past? Let it go; it's not worth it anymore.

Move on so our world can heal from the wounds we insist on poking and prodding at. Help pull the people out of the gashes so they don't get swallowed up when the cut closes.

The past should remain in the past.

Until next time,

what's wrong with research? whenever i introduce a character, i read at least a dozen fics about them to get their character right (Except for those that i live with but...(

He who does not remember the past is doomed to repeat it.

The past can be a guide to the future, but like all guides we don't needs to follow it word for word. Learn from the past, take inspiration from it, see how you can apply it in today's world. Remember the past, respect those who came before, but also define yourself on your own terms.

Oh, I gotta let go from the past?
But I don't wanna leave my Super Nintendo!:applecry:
