I'm a writer of fluff, kibitzer, and especially interested in canon AU: Equestria Girls, the comics, etc. They are fun to play with.

    Follow-up on that stalker thing

He seems to have gone quiet for now. I'm assuming the admins managed to smack down all of those alts. I haven't seen any new material on Tumblr or DeviantArt, either.

Speaking of DeviantArt, here's the reply I got from them:

    Thanks for getting in touch!

A member of the DeviantArt staff has reviewed this situation, and we have taken appropriate steps to resolve the problem.

    Just so you know...

There's a person on here who has been creating alts and harassing me. I keep getting posts like "why have you stopped talking to me? Tell me what I did. I need closure." I'm also getting PMs along the order of "yo, why are you ignoring X? I thought you were friends."

    I lurk

I know some people have asked why I won’t say anything, etc., but the truth is that I lurk. I sign in to see something, usually to re-read Rage Reviews. There are some things I can’t see unless I’m a bonafide member over a certain age. And then I just don’t ever log out, but I’m not “here” and ignoring anyone on purpose.

Some people make themselves very, very unhappy

Haven't been around much, but then, you knew that. Busyness, health issues, and frankly a whole lot of depression. Even ponies weren't interesting me very much anymore. I had a ticket to go to EQLA and a party that same weekend, and I did not go to either.

    Hey guys guys guys

So, hi, you haven't probably seen much from me, and that is primarily because I have been sucked in again by my primary fandom, Harry Potter. Which isn't surprising, considering that I help run a convention and teach a course on it and am the school's club's faculty advisor and have given talks on it for, oh, over a decade.

So for me, for the last few months, it has been mostly about:

I Write Like--PG Wodehouse · 7:37am Sep 7th, 2014

Apparently.

That wouldn't have surprised me a bit, since I adore PG Wodehouse, but I keep getting Chuck Palaniuk, too, and I have no idea why or what that's based on.

I keep being tempted to post commentary about the chapter I just wrote, but then I don't want to spoil anything. At this point, most of the underpinnings are out there, including some of the ways Pinkie and Cheese's magic works across the multiverse (important point: explaining the joke just kills it.)

Right now, I'm preparing for some guys to come in and do some remodeling. It's just a closet, but it's my walk-in closet and it involves moving most of my clothing, and that means sifting through tons and tons of clothes and asking myself if I'm ever going to wear this again, really. I can't be the only person who buys a new package of tube socks, say, but just doesn't get around to throwing out the old ones, until the drawers won't even shut.

I'm racing uphill to get this done before Rainbow Rocks, and every time a clip is released or a song post is mentioned, I worry that it's going to ding the fic. It already is, technically, but it becomes just one more thing to worry about. It looks to me as though Rainbow Rocks is set right after the Fall Formal, and that's when LGW is set: from March to June following the Fall Formal.

I think this upcoming chapter will be the first I've ever written in which there's a baseball game! I'm going to try not to make any horrible mistakes, and it might not be terribly important in the end, but maybe I'll go re-read some of the Mike books by Wodehouse and see if I can get any of the thrill of pages and pages and pages of cricket in there.

Question: what position do you think Scootaloo should play? First Base is the pitcher--which sounds odd, I know, but that's what he was practicing in The Good Kind Of Magic, so pitcher it is. I keep thinking that Scootaloo would be a good shortstop, but I'm not sure why.

After that chapter, we've finally--FINALLY--got the Cake Festival, and I hope no one is disappointed by that one, because I have worked really hard to lay out all the threads and that final scene will bring them all together.

Then there's a sort of coda. It's not really an epilogue--more of a continuation. I'd like for the Cake Festival to be one long chapter, so it might wind up being a long, long chapter. After that comes the coda, which might or might not be a bridge to the next story.

Augh--and now it's back to the utter devastation in my bedroom. I'll be glad when that's over.

I suppose that your story takes place in an alternate universe where the 3 Equestrian outcasts did not see the see what happened at the end of the first movie from afar.

2434294 Yes, I guess so, although I'll have to see the whole movie to know what else is different. I know Sunset Shimmer's situation is different.

2434295

In the previews, SunSetShimmer tries to make amends, while your SunSetShimmer hides in the library, trying to make portals.

2434303 Exactly! There is one thing in common, though--both don't want to engage with the rest of the students, because they know they did some terrible stuff and everyone dislikes them. What's mostly different in mine is that no one really remembers exactly what happened at the Fall Formal except for the most magical characters--Sunset, the Humane Five, Celestia and Luna. The students at my CHS hate her for everything she did BEFORE the Fall Formal!

I saw your post on 'You Write Like' before this blog, and I'e been distracted for the last hour plugging in various pieces. I'm not sure why I keep getting different results. Lack of a developed personal style?

Good luck with the remodel. Being a typical bacherlor, I don't have the same problem. I usually end up having to burn half my clothes.

Well, you've got until Sept. 25. That's when the movie hits theaters. I really want to go see it.

2434384 It's the 27th, actually, but that's still very close. I am having to work on it all the time, even though there are other things I have to be doing. School starts on the 25th, and Fall Conference before that, so there's quite a lot of pressure.

2434364 Possibly you have fewer Victorian ball gowns. They take up lots of space.

2434441
Oh. Well, uh, my bad.

2434492 I'm really excited to see it, too! It's just that even the idea of losing two days on it fills me with dread.

Shortstop would be a good fit for Scoots. You have to be very speedy and flexible in terms of what you need to pay attention too. Could work well for her. She could also do well at one of the bases. Sliding tags and all n_n

2435261 I was thinking shortstop! Thank you very much. I don't know enough about baseball to know that.

Question: When do you think you will finish Equestria Girls? I really don't like reading Incomplete stories, but I really want to read yours when it's finished.

I'm racing uphill to get this done before Rainbow Rocks,

Do you mean like the whole thing or only the next chapter?

2435818 The whole thing. Equestria Girls--Rainbow Rocks premieres on September 27th, so I'll have to work very hard without somehow neglecting my school duties in order to get it done.

I think I can manage it, This part, especially the last chapter, are the bits that have been planned out for a long time, and in some cases were written months ago. On the other time, they're tricky, because I have so much to tie together.

I wish you luck in meeting your deadline.

2434309

I'm guessing that you're going with a fairly strong Weirdness Censor in operation here, where characters who do not have magic or at least some sort of "second sight" see or make up and believe mundane versions of events -- for instance, they probably remember that Sunset Shimmer, Snips and Snails pulled off some sort of spectacular prank at the Fall Formal when Sunset lost the vote, maybe involving fireworks that got out of hand and demolished the school facade in a huge explosion that left a crater, rather than remembering that Sunset and her two minions turned into demon-things and took over everyone's minds. That sort of thing?

2434303 ...so she's GladoS?

Also, does this mean EQG world is in danger of collapsing like the mirrorverse?

2436883 I don't know? But remember that the access to the Mirrorverse was originally through a prototype mirror upon which the EG mirror was modeled. Presumably it had bugs that were worked out in the later design. But popping back and forth too much anywhere to anywhere is probably not a good idea.

I think the portals at CHS may be a bit more like the Hellmouth in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, i.e., naturally occurring rather than constructed, which also makes a difference. But honestly, I haven't worked all of the kinks out yet!

2437001 Man, the more I think of it the more EQG feels like Buffy. Twilight could have been Giles. Rainbow Dash as Buffy, Fluttershy as Willow, Sunset Shimmer as Faith, Rarity as Cordelia, Flash as.... Riley maybe? He's no Angel. (Angel the bunny actually works best as Spike, and Spike probably works best as Oz). I would even put down Pinkie as Xander and Applejack as Anya.

I wonder if Sunset Shimmer realizes her actions are dissolving the integrity of the universe. Then again, considering she's going from one library to another to borrow books, she may actually be using a different method...

2437001

Celestia thought it would be a bad idea for the rest of the Mane Six to join Twilight, remember? So maybe there would be a danger of that sort of synchronization.

Man, I wish I wrote like Wodehouse.

That wouldn't have surprised me a bit, since I adore PG Wodehouse, but I keep getting Chuck Palaniuk, too, and I have no idea why or what that's based on.

It basically just checks the text for certain words. Write: "Wand wizard wizard spell wand troll" over and over and it will tell you that you write like Rowling. Replace all the wands with swords and suddenly you write like Tolkien.

2445935 That explains a lot.
