... if you were gonna create a Diamond Tiara redemption story?

Honestly I would probably make her really see the error of her ways ALA Discord. I know it sounds easy but considering Discord is a reformed Master of Chaos I think I can find a few things to make her see how idiotic she has been. Maybe nail Silver Spoon also. Maybe not to an extreme as you did with 'Why am I crying?' but you get the picture..... actually I might have DT almost commit suicide after she realizes how horrible she's been and how, apparently, nopony cares about her. Something along these lines is how I personally would do a Diamond Tiara redemption story.

Make her kiss someone.

I think that the editorial job in Ponyville Confidential really showed of the whole "evil manager" side of Diamond Tiara, and I think some sort of leadership type position or teamwork-type position would work well for a story like that - let her keep her edge but not be quite so hurtful to people, and have some redeeming qualities (competence, some sense of morality or loyalty, ect.).

Redemption? From what? She's just a child you idiots, an immature 10-something year old! What redemption?

It's just how most people call fics where Diamond Tiara turn from a bully to a good pony after learning the error of her ways.

:rainbowlaugh:

Not make one, I'd make a larger story that didn't solely focus on her redemption, cuz that's lame and character development through combat is rad.

I'm in the process of writing a story with Silver Spoon who is also going through a sort of redemption and befriends Scootaloo. A few situations lead Silver and Diamond to separate for awhile and the latter eavesdrops on Silver and Scoots with Sweetie Belle. Through this, Diamond interacts with her, they learn a little about each other and find some common ground. Over the course of the story, she starts to grow out of being a bully; she still retains some snobbish traits, but she becomes more of a "lovable alpha bitch" type character who is experiencing growth along with Silver Spoon who is growing out of being a bully for other reasons as well.

If Sweetie Belle grows up to become a star actress or singer, I can see Diamond being her manager.

An inverted redemption story idea: Diamond Tiara stays exactly the same, but starts picking on unpopular people who do not attract sympathy when they're bullied, like Diamond Dogs. In the blink of an eye, Diamond Tiara goes from hated schoolyard bully to proud defender of Equestrian society and culture, and is lavished in honors and praise. The people who object to bullying then as quickly become scorned and ridiculed. Diamond Tiara learns a very important lesson: it's not what you do, but who you do it to, that matters, and if you victimize the right people you can get away with anything.

I have one that I'm working slowly on, she visits tartartus one day she died in her sleep, and was taken there, and this mysteries mare arrives to give her the bad news, and she will soon have to be nice to those she made suffer, its still being planned and as much as I hate DT she deserves sometype of Reincarnation

I would rewrite the one I already wrote so it didn't suck. :B

I'd have Luna put her in a sort of "walk a mile in her hooves" scenario.

Like say, when she visits one of her (foal)subjects in her dreams, she ends up seeing memories of how Diamond Tiara bullied them. And then, feeling that the arrogant filly needs to be taken down a peg, takes a bit of her consciousness and forces it into one of the foals that she'd usually bully.

She forces her to also endure all the emotions of the foal as her other half bully's him/her, this would go on for about a week, each day a part of her consciousness would jump into another foal that she'd relentlessly bully. By the time the week is over she awakens in her own body at first believing it to be a dream, but realizing it truly happened upon checking the date.

While she doesn't directly befriend anyone, everyone does in fact notice that she's completely stopped bullying them and out right ignoring chances to do so, leaving them and Silver Spoon sort of baffled...

I read this fan-fic as a Diamond Tiara redemption story, maybe this is a good example of one...

See that depends on where she's coming from as a bully. Most go with a Broken household outlook. You see a lot of Filthy but not so much her mom... ever. Personally? if i go this route I'd have her proactively trying to fix her home. would be different than some of the other stuff I'd seen so far.

I'd have her father to tell her to stop being such a little shit, ground her, tug her on the ear and threaten to take away phone privileges until she goes to college.

Worked for me. :V

How would I do it?

Well, I did write An Apple Studded Diamond, (sorry no link due to Mature Rating and NSFW content), where faced with the consequences of her actions Di, ends up stuck in an awkward situation with pony she knows hardly a thing about. Noted by readers for its world building of a culture built by equines (based on modern horse breeding), character growth and development by both primary and secondary characters, and the psychological dissection of Diamond Tiara to show what and who she really is in a convincing way that does not simply change her character, but changes the focus on the characteristics that define her, so that the 'Diamond' shines true.

you would need to start the story with her as she is while she is still acting like a spoiled brat. you should also make her piss off silver spoon in some way so that she is alone and starts to have a self-realization that maybe the reason she is alone and have no friends may be because of her. so she will try to make amends, fail, then maybe risk everything to help save someone or something.

2424354 yes and to the other ponies her age it would be "redemption", she has always been a brat and so most of the other foals do not like her so her only friend is silver spoon

I guess it all depends on what kind of pony she is. And let's be honest, the writers of the show are not gonna give us a clear answer to her personality. It's up to the fandom to speculate. A very common, albeit cliche characteristic is loneliness, especially for the wealthy. I don't see this as a stoic answer when she has Silver Spoon by her side.

The best answer for a redemption is to show she has her limits. And if writing a redemption story is a recent goal for you, I cam give back "Even I Have Limits." It's your Foster fanfic, after all.

I probably wouldn't try it because I'd be too tempted to say her dad beats her or some shit.

One of her plans to ruin the Crusader's life backfires seriously badly on her. That's what I'd do.

I would make everything go wrong for her till she and her money is jack shit, then hopefully the biotch will have learned her lesson. If not, a sequel where she dies.

How about an actual explanation of her motivations?
It goes a bit deeper than "I need to make them suffer".

Given the wealth of Filth Rich, the obvious argument is to deprive DT of that wealth and thus force her to prove her intrinsic value rather than defining herself simply by the financial resources at her disposal.

However, the more pertinent argument is perhaps that DT somewhat lacks a definitive aim in life that defines her; while the CMC are looking to achieve their Cutie Marks, and to an extent are also looking to gain the status of equals with the older generation, DT and SS, by dint of their wealth, don't have the same motivation because they're comparatively happy with the status quo of being kings of the hill.

As such, I would suggest that a good method of redeeming DT is to ensure that the CMC succeed both in attaining their Cutie Marks and indeed far beyond the success of DT and SS, thus giving them a goal to attain and thus prove their innate quality.

That, or isolate one of the CMC and have DT take the role of primary moral support/ rehabilitation.

Having her find out she is still a kid. Follow me down the rabbit hole hopefully I can explain it well enough.

While it is debatable as to if ponies have tv or something like it we do know they have magazines and other forms of literature. If DT was to find something like a teen or young adult magazine that was along the content of say Jersey Shore she could begin to think that acting the way she does now is cool or grownup. Trying to prove herself as a more mature filly then her classmates she could begin to act as she currently does thinking that it is the adult thing to do. When her classmates don't react as she would hope she writes them.off as babys. I wouldn't say she comes from a bad home only one in which her father doesn't spend enough time with her where if he had he may have been able to show her that the magazine was not a proper look into the adult world. Which leaves you with many opportunity for redemption.

1.) she runs into an older group of children and she gets a taste of her own medicine prompting her to reflect on how she has made her friends feel.

2.) she becomes an adult and is alienated for how she acts and discovers that real adults do not act in that manner calling her core ideals into question. This would prompt her to go make amends with her former class mates

3.) a classmate (or herself) gets hurt as a result of her actions (be it self harm, accident, revenge attack, etc.) she has to come to terms with herself and question what she thought being grownup is all about .

while it may not be focused on her, i sorta have. the princess and the foals.

While I wouldn't truly call it a redemption story, BronyWriter did one that was pretty badass. It's about as realistically close as you can get, considering how Diamond Tiara is portrayed as one unwilling to learn from her mistakes in the series.

Of course if we are going for redemption, one would assume you want a happier ending. My advice would be to really break her down somehow, even if only by taking away all her outs with authority first. I wouldn't do anything silly like have a family tragedy though, or take away her fortune. It's not much of a redemption if it's due to her having no other choice.

I would try and stay away from her having a broken home life as well, that would just be a little too over the top I think. Well, maybe you could have something out of their control happen, like say that their home was a casualty of the Tirek attack. Since Filthy is such good friends with the Apples, he rents room for his family ( as it'd be cheaper than a motel, and he's a cheapskate or something? I dunno) with them while they repair their home, then have Diamond Tiara learn her lesson via having to live with not only Apple Bloom who she dislikes, but also having her stuck in something she considers a plebeian environment.

To be honest, I think she would redeem herself when a bunch of kids act the same way she does. Kinda like getting a taste of your own medicine.
Or we dig deeper into her heritage and home life. Perhaps her parents are uncaring towards her so she picked up the habit.
Or she matures and realises her mistake ( kinda naive here )
Perhaps even maybe one day her actions cause her to get into trouble ( maybe even jail depending on how she grows up. Or she could develop PHYSICAL bullying. I'm not too sure :derpytongue2: )

Have her commit Seppuku... :trollestia:

Having one of her little bullying incidents lead one of her classmates to suicide (bonus if it's one of the CMC). Harsh and dark, but I feel like that'll be a powerful way to go if it were me.

Have someone ironically compliment her on her teasing somehow, but bam, we get a flashback to Discord saying the exact same thing when he was messing with Ponyville fright after the his maze win and suddenly she gets all confused. Then she looks for and eventually finds Discord and demands he explain what exactly he meant. Then the story goes from there and how Discord's incredibly warped view of everything eventually makes her see something she otherwise couldn't, that she is wrong, and how she should change. Combined with some really bad and utterly advice that is a problem if she takes it for obvious reasons, or if she doesn't because Discord is trying to help.
