Half the time I don't even know how I do what I seem to do so well. I try not to think too hard on it, for fear of breaking myself in the process.

I have an idea, and I need some feedback because this might be a big one

It goes without saying, I'm not the fastest writer around these parts. Not anymore at least. Anymore it takes time to get an idea figured out, written down, and refined to the point I want to release it for being read. But this doesn't lend itself well to getting the chapters and updates churned out. And unfortunately it leaves you with more ideas being backlogged than you want to admit. It

    Small update

Ever since the last chapter I've been stumped on what to do with the next chapter.

I'm happy to report that I'm 1.3K words into the next chapter, so things are slowly but surely getting done.

    Not dead

Neither I nor the story are dead as of the time of this posting.

Turns out writing Ulquiorra from the outside perspective of uninitiated ponies is a lot harder than I thought it'd be, and I'm having to spend a lot more time in the brainstorming stage than I'm accustomed to.

    Why?

Why is it so damn hard to write at times?

Why does the prospect of sitting down to type up an idea and give it physical form, seem to just suck the life and enthusiasm right out of you?

    A thought

The current chapters for HIE are proving to be a lot harder to write than I thought. Even harder when you've got distracted thoughts flaunting themselves at you.

HiE Omake - Pain in the ice part 4

"We rollin' yet, Big Mac?" Applejack asked as she looked at the camera.

"Eeyup," Big Macintosh replied and nodded as he held the camera steady; not all that hard of a task to do.

"Cool! Let's get this show on the road!" Scootaloo yelled from the side and hopped anxiously.

"Settle down, Sugarcube, we'll be gettin' to it soon enough," Applejack replied. Ambition was fine and all. But everything in moderation. If she knew what she was getting herself into, she might not be quite so excited.

Oh well, that was neither here nor there. Right now they had a task to go about doing.

"Howdy y'all, ah'm Applejack, an' ah was challenged ta this ALS ice bucket challenge deal by Rarity. An' seein' how it's fer a good cause an' all, ah got no reason ta turn it down," Applejack stated, doing the obligatory introduction.

She was quickly interrupted by Scootaloo bouncing into frame in front of here.

"And I'm Scootaloo, and I got challenged by Sweetie Belle. And if she can do this, then I can do it too!" she stated.

Applejack just shook her head and tried not to laugh at the filly's excited nature. She really had no idea what she was getting herself into. She was going to be learning this the hard way, poor girl.

"A'right then. We got this here rain barrel o' ice water fer this challenge," Applejack said to the camera as she gestured to her right to the aforementioned barrel.

"Cannon ball!" Scootaloo yelled as she broke into a run and jumped into the barrel with a large splash, sending a good portion of the contents spilling and sloshing over the sides, and making a mess on the ground.

Not two seconds later, a loud screech emerged from the barrel, as Scootaloo shot out at a ninety degree angle, and clung to the tree branch that'd been overhead, shaking violently as her teeth chattered loudly.

Applejack tried not to laugh. She really felt bad for Scootaloo... but at the same time the filly's reaction was just so unintentionally hilarious.

"Ya a'right up there, Sugarcube?" she asked. All she got in response was unintelligible mutterings and more teeth chattering. "She'll be a'right," she said as she turned back to the camera. "Oh well, no use puttin' this off, the ice is gonna melt. So..." she paused as she took off her stetson and set it aside where it would get wet. Then she stepped over to the barrel, stood up on her hind legs, and lifted the half-full barrel up in her forelegs. "Here goes."

Because of the positioning, and her earth pony nature, the best Applejack could do was pouring the ice water down her face and front. But regardless of that, it was still enough to take her breath away, causing her to drop the barrel on the ground and shiver violently.

"A'right, tha's colder than an early mornin' wake up call!" she stated and vigorously started shaking herself to try and get the excess water off her coat.

Off screen, Big Macintosh could be heard snickering in amusement. Applejack frowned at him, but decided to let it go.

"A'right, tha's the ice bucket challenge. Now ah nominate RD ta take it up. Ya got twenty four hours, Sugarcube, so get crackin'!" she stated, before turning to look upward where Scootaloo hung. "Ya got anypony ya wanna nominate fer the challenge?" she asked.

Scootaloo's only response was more shivering and chattering of teeth. There were no coherent words to be gotten out at present time.

But she was so going to get Sweetie Belle back for this later on!

Another excellent omake:pinkiehappy::derpytongue2::moustache:

Apple Bloom should count herself lucky she wasn't nominated by Scootaloo. Then again, I'm surprised she didn't partake with her sister :rainbowlaugh:
