Half the time I don't even know how I do what I seem to do so well. I try not to think too hard on it, for fear of breaking myself in the process.

I have an idea, and I need some feedback because this might be a big one

It goes without saying, I'm not the fastest writer around these parts. Not anymore at least. Anymore it takes time to get an idea figured out, written down, and refined to the point I want to release it for being read. But this doesn't lend itself well to getting the chapters and updates churned out. And unfortunately it leaves you with more ideas being backlogged than you want to admit. It

    Small update

Ever since the last chapter I've been stumped on what to do with the next chapter.

I'm happy to report that I'm 1.3K words into the next chapter, so things are slowly but surely getting done.

    Not dead

Neither I nor the story are dead as of the time of this posting.

Turns out writing Ulquiorra from the outside perspective of uninitiated ponies is a lot harder than I thought it'd be, and I'm having to spend a lot more time in the brainstorming stage than I'm accustomed to.

    Why?

Why is it so damn hard to write at times?

Why does the prospect of sitting down to type up an idea and give it physical form, seem to just suck the life and enthusiasm right out of you?

    A thought

The current chapters for HIE are proving to be a lot harder to write than I thought. Even harder when you've got distracted thoughts flaunting themselves at you.

HiE Omake - Pain in the ice part 3

"Is the camera on, Sweetie Belle?" Rarity asked as she watched her sister fumble with the device, trying her best to attach it to the tripod that stood in the middle of the room.

"Just gimme a minute. Scootaloo's better at this stuff than I am," Sweetie Belle muttered as she fidgeted with the camera. Whoever thought it was a great idea to give such a small and complicated device to a foal with hooves was just plain sadistic, that much was for sure.

Rarity smirked as she watched her sister working. As much time as she supposedly spent with that one young colt, one would think that she'd be more understanding of today's technology. But she didn't say anything, knowing that it would embarrass Sweetie Belle terribly. And she simply wasn't mean like that; especially when the camera could be on, and capture the entire exchange...

"Okay it's on!" Sweetie Belle stated as she directed the camera towards her sister.

"Very well then," Rarity replied and cleared her throat, before facing the camera and smiling. "Hello everypony. My name is Rarity, and I was challenged by Princess Celestia to partake in the ALS ice bucket challenge."

The camera was quickly spun around to face Sweetie Belle, showing only her horn, before it was angled downward to better capture her face.

"My name's Sweetie Belle. I wasn't challenged, but I'm going to do this ice bucket thing too," she stated, before turning the camera back around to face Rarity again.

"I must say, Sweetie, I'm surprised you wanted to go along with this. You do realize just what this involves don't you?" Rarity asked her.

"A lot less than the people and ponies the challenge is meant to help," Sweetie Belle replied sagely. What was a little coldness compared to... just what ALS was supposed to do to someone?

"Fair enough," Rarity replied and nodded, before giving a flick of her magic, and levitating a wading pool over and setting it down on the floor of the boutique. "No sense in making a complete mess out of this," she pointed out, before stepping into the plastic tub. Sweetie Belle quickly stepped away from the camera, and stepped in to join her.

"Are you ready, Sweetie?" Rarity asked her, giving her one last chance to back out of all this mess.

"As ready as I'm ever going to be," Sweetie Belle replied and shrugged.

Rarity didn't see Sweetie Belle backing down from this. So with no further delays, she again flicked her magic, and levitated over two buckets filled with ice water.

"On the count of three then," Rarity replied and closed her eyes, doing her best to steel her nerves for what was coming.

The buckets were upended simultaneously on each of their heads, immediately flattening their manes, and soaking their coats. Sweetie Belle was too busy struggling with her breath caught in her throat to let out a scream of surprise. Rarity, on the other hoof, screamed loud enough for the both of them.

"Oh that's cold!" Sweetie Belle finally managed to yell, before devolving into a bundle of shakes.

"W-w-whoever said cold water w-w-was good for the complexion, d-d-didn't know what they were talking about!" Rarity chattered, immediately pulling two plush towels over for them to wrap up in and warm up with.

"A-alright, that's the ALS ice bucket challenge. Now I pass the challenge onto Applejack. Y-you have twenty four hours to respond," Rarity stated as she shook.

"The same goes for you Scootaloo," Sweetie Belle managed to get out, before grunting in discomfort. "R-Rarity if we don't get out of here right now, I'm gonna start swearing!" she stated as she jumped right out of the wading pool. And promptly slipped and fell on her butt on the hard floor of the boutique with a groan.

"Sweetie Belle, a lady never swears," Rarity stated, "but under these circumstances, certain exceptions are most certainly allowed," she added quickly as she got out of the freezing cold water that was currently trying to numb her hooves.

"That's good, because I'm got a real zinger to unleash," Sweetie Belle stated, before taking a deep breath. What she had to let loose demanded proper lung power.

FIRST
ok now in all seriousness how long until Starbutt has to do the challenge?

2401845
As long as it takes for somepony to decide that nominating the obsessive compulsive librarian to do something completely random is a good -and responsible- idea.

Great:pinkiehappy::derpytongue2::moustache: By the way I've been meaning to ask, does your avatar have a name? And what is her cutie mark and special talent? She kind of looks like a Halloween themed Applejack.

2401881 Bribe Spike into slipping it into all her checklists.

Heh, that last line. Sweetie Belle will always be the most adorable filly :rainbowlaugh:

Are you familiar with the "Upotte!!" series where the main cast are anthropomorphic personifications of their respective firearms?

Same basic principle here. But with ponies instead of girls, and knives instead of guns.

The cutie mark is the blade designation, the gold is because the designation is laser etched instead of stamped, the black is because of the baked on rust-resistant finish, and the orange is because I use orange paracord on my lanyards for high visibility purposes.

And what better avatar for a strong knife than a strong pony?

2404291 That's pretty cool:pinkiehappy::derpytongue2::moustache: Does she have a name?

2404513
Well in the spirit of "Upotte!!" her name is BK3. Just like how the knife is designated the BK3. As for her special talent, that would be being a good chopper, a pry bar, and capable of opening up a Dodge Omni like a can of beans.
