Thoughts on Robin Williams · 8:53pm Aug 12th, 2014
Yesterday's news about Robin Williams' passing was a punch to the gut for me. What makes that weird for me is that, it's been a while since I've seen anything he's been in. It's a situation I plan on remedying as soon as possible, though. I remember him in Mork,. Mrs. Doubtfire, the live-action Popeye movie, Aladdin and a lot of other roles. His comedy was rapid-fire, almost too fast to follow. I'll miss him.
I find it kind of funny, His style and way of performing has kind of been a huge influence on me. Even tough I only really started to watch his stand up when I was 20 (didn't get youtube till now). If you watcch some of my more siller live reads (The von Doom stuff) You might notice I'll get hyper, go into weird voices and stuff like that. Yeah, that is part of it. And to hear that is still hurtful.
I was exposed to his work very late in my life. In his every picture, every show I saw that he has this tragic spark in his eyes, something that made me feel like he was always talking from his heart, that behind every comedy he did was something that hurt him. At his interviews and shows you saw that this man was different in soul, not like the people taking his interviews that restricted their feelings and actions just to be emotionally safe and accepted. Robbin wasn't like that. He was alive and he will always be loved because of it.
Before I started being an amateur filmmaker and writer, I wanted to be a comedian. My three biggest influences were Jim Carrey, Ryan Stiles, and of course Robin Williams. My favorite episode of Whose Line is it Anyway? was the episode he guest starred.
Here is the full episode, one of his best.
So will I.
My favorite movies he was in are Aladdin, Mrs. Doubtfire, Hook, Flubber, and Jumanji.
