Season Eight Episode Reviews: Molt Down

This week is a Spike episode? What a re-”molt”-ing development this is!

Let's look at “Molt Down,” the episode that will surely be perfectly normal and have no long-lasting repercussions on a character's appearance.

Season Eight Episode Reviews: Break Up Break Down

I dread going into this week's episode. For today, we discuss matters of the heart. Romance, love, heartbreak, and all that rot. Which means we run right into the most loathsome of all fandom constructs, the kind of thing that destroys friendships and leaves the most brilliant of minds curled up helplessly in a corner, foaming from the mouth:

    SHIPPING.

We've had a string of good episodes the last few weeks. Whether it be shapeshifting seaponies, an actual Celestia episode, or discovering Starlight's dark phase, we've had lots of fun and plenty of laughs.

Today's episode is about Applejack and Rainbow Dash competing.

    The good times are over.

Season Eight Episode Reviews: Horse Play

So hey, it's a new episode. Surely nothing to be excited about. Just another standard episode of a cartoon pony show.

    Only it's a CELESTIA EPISODE!

Prepare for extra spicy biased scoring as we look at Best Princess' newest episode, “Horse Play!”

Maud... · 5:02am Aug 8th, 2014

Why is she smiling?

Why is she smiling on both sides?

Maud's defining characteristic is that she almost never smiles. She doesn't wear her emotions on her sleeve like Pinkie does; it takes her sister putting herself in mortal peril before there's even inflection in her voice. What's wrong with her standing stone-faced in a field or what have you? Why do you have to pick both screencaps from the one scene where she actually smiles?

I'm not even questioning why Maud was chosen to be a Mane Character. Her episode's one of the most popular ones in Season Four, and she went over so well that I wouldn't be surprised if we saw her again somewhere down the line. And unlike a certain other new Mane Character, she has dialogue...

Still, worrying about Maud smiling is better than contemplating the cessation of existence that awaits us all, which is also better than playing the Spartacus board game, so victories all-around, I suppose. Now if you'll excuse me, it's back to work on ACE.

I cant find the source right now but I think at one of the panels at one of the recent cons it was said that Maud would be back in season 5 along with the rest of the Pie family for an episode.

I wouldn't be surprised if she's smiling because some executive suit who doesn't know any better thinks that smiling characters sell better or some other similar such.

When she smiiiiles~

Maybe she didn't smile that often, but when she did...

Because she's working on her Rocktorate in Rock Science. Duh. You'd be smiling too.

Perhaps a rock just gave her a compliment.

Side note - why is Maud a Tarmagoyf?

Wait, I thought Vinyl had red eyes? What the fuck?

And Maud is smiling because smiling Maud is best Maud.

new manes characters?.....

For the card game. You build your deck around a central character. Initially it was just the Mane 6, but they've added Celestia and Luna, and will soon officially release Maud and Vinyl.

They're not going to be main characters on the show.

Huh.. gotta agree that it doesn't make sense for her to be smiling. At least not on both side! I mean the boosted one being the smiling Maud makes some sort of sense, but not the regular one.

Its a cash in for a cartoon by hasbro, what else do you expect? Haven't you seen Batman and Robin?

Well in the first one she's wearing a heck of lot of rock candy necklaces so clearly she's thinking of Pinkie. I mean we know she's not going to eat them. The second one, I got nothing.

2355604 pretty much this. Maud is best sister after all
