You know, I just heard that battle song from the new Equestria Girls movie, and I have to say... I kinda like it! I like the creepy, hypnotic vibe that it has. Rather than an in-your-face aggressive style taunt, it's something more subtle. I mean, it's subtle to a child, but I appreciate the divergence from what would be the easiest route.
It was a little distracting that it sounds like Rarity singing the song. I'm guessing it must be Kazumi Evans, but I can't find a credit for Adagio Dazzle's VAs yet. If it is Kazumi, it would have been nice for her to switch the voice up a little more, but it does sound pretty nice.
It also looks like the animation has gotten an upgrade. I still haven't seen the original Equestria girls, but the bits I've seen seemed like season one level animation, whereas this seemed like the much more fluid seasons three and four. No big surprise, since it was made later, but it's always nice to have better animation.
The song is catchy. Heck it only has one true 'evil' line in it.
2345447 I really liked the way their song was selling the idea. Adagio and her pals weren't saying "they" were the best. She was trying to convince the audience that they were the best, and should therefore go for it. It takes a very confident villain to set something like that up. They'd have to really believe they were going to win this to invite competition just to set up an encounter. I thought it was a great way to approach this.

Considering there is likely magic involved, winning may not even be the end game. Conflict may be the goal.
2345468 Yeah, I have no idea what's going on, really. That four minute clip is all I know about the movie. I figure they are manipulating some sort of opening through trying to open up this competition thing, but that's just my guess.
They come slinking in, singing as Sirens, using promises, false or no, until peoples eotions are literally boiling out all over the floor for them to draw towards them and absorb, and Chrysalis has no idea whats occuring?
Adagio and crew are acting as a direct mix of Chrysalis Changeling and Sunset Shimmer Demoness form.
If this scene was in a German porn movie, the horses would be trying to run in panic.
Okay, but where is the "Equestria Girls as written by xjuggernaughtx" we were promised?
2345878 I haven't had time to write anything on it yet, but I have been thinking about what I want to do with it.
2346345 Yusss.
What I like is that it's exactly the opposite, thematically, of the song sung in the cafeteria in the first movie.
That's fucking clever. And if they do stuff like that, this movie could actually be not a complete waste of time.
2346501 I had thought that, too. I actually queued them up and listen to them together after I'd heard Battle of the Bands because I was thinking about how different they were. It was interesting to see the cafeteria feel so different in each.
