Lotta stuff going on after that disaster of a chapter. Haven't opened up something that bad since Chapter 2.
Bottom line of this blog: I'm putting Ungrounded on hiatus because I don't feel capable of writing it.
Not to mention that readership has had a sharp and sudden drop. The last two chapters had the lowest views ever, and while I can pin the first one onto a broken notification because I accidentally posted it too early, the second one leaves nothing to the imagination.
So my writing, I feel, has also dropped sharply and suddenly, because why else wouldn't people be reading this like they used to? This is the first time this fic has gone anywhere, and probably the first time an HiE has gone on an extended stay to somewhere besides Ponyville/Everfree Forest. It's exciting for me to write out a whole different city, but I must not be doing a good job of it.
So I'll be working on my other story, Reversal of Fortune for a while.
Or, alternatively, I'll be finishing up the next chapter for Chaotic Note's Luna Plays...
Or, also alternatively, I'll be crafting a Dark Souls II crossover; something I've been itching to do since the game came out.
No matter what I choose, you won't be hearing from me for a while. And the next time you do, I'll have a prereader and editor for Ungrounded, to hopefully look at the shit I'm putting out and tell me it's bad before I make a mistake and post it.
Edit: I don't want to give up completely on the story, but if everyone just stops caring, then what's the point? And everyone is steadily stopping to care...
Good luck man. I know I'll be looking forward to more of ungrounded when you feel up to writing more.
I haven't stopped caring. You had an off day or something, or you had plans in the future. I'll be glad to read more even if the chapter isn't retconned. Just, as it was, the flashbacks seemed out of place and Lucien seemed disproportionately upset.
That's not even a bad thing though, it's just you did something we, as readers, didn't see (fooled me before) or you had a bad day.
That said, if you feel taking a break is good, then take one. It looks like you've got a lot on your plate. All said, though, a single "off" chapter won't scare me off, it just was a huge leap in a different direction.
I can't even blame you for an "off" chapter that may not even have been off, I've written pretty much only terrible, trashy stories.
