Season Eight Episode Reviews: Molt Down

This week is a Spike episode? What a re-”molt”-ing development this is!

Let's look at “Molt Down,” the episode that will surely be perfectly normal and have no long-lasting repercussions on a character's appearance.

Season Eight Episode Reviews: Break Up Break Down

I dread going into this week's episode. For today, we discuss matters of the heart. Romance, love, heartbreak, and all that rot. Which means we run right into the most loathsome of all fandom constructs, the kind of thing that destroys friendships and leaves the most brilliant of minds curled up helplessly in a corner, foaming from the mouth:

    SHIPPING.

We've had a string of good episodes the last few weeks. Whether it be shapeshifting seaponies, an actual Celestia episode, or discovering Starlight's dark phase, we've had lots of fun and plenty of laughs.

Today's episode is about Applejack and Rainbow Dash competing.

    The good times are over.

Happy Cinco de Mayo, everyone who cares about that! What better way to spend the day than watching a cartoon about horses dealing with their mommy/daddy issues? Well, tough, because that's what we're doing. This is “The Parent Map.”

Season Eight Episode Reviews: Horse Play

So hey, it's a new episode. Surely nothing to be excited about. Just another standard episode of a cartoon pony show.

    Only it's a CELESTIA EPISODE!

Prepare for extra spicy biased scoring as we look at Best Princess' newest episode, “Horse Play!”

On the Luna/Pinkie Pie Friends Forever · 5:19am Jul 24th, 2014

The review won't be up tomorrow...because I want to give everyone as much time as possible to read the issue before I discuss it. I can't give my opinion on it as a whole without spoiling it, and I want to put a lot of effort forward here. I've already failed so many times in that regard; I need to triumph again, or perhaps for the first time.

If you don't know what I mean, here's a hint:

Now go forth.

I wasn't planning on getting it yet but... dang that looks like a good issue!

Tiberius certainly seems to be growing. Can't wait to pick it up at my local comic shop!

I read this and, barring any spoilers, it genuinely was one of the best things I've read in a long time. I'm very much looking forward to what you say on this one.

Graphic novel sets! Graphic novel sets!

I really enjoy these. They have a place on my shelf right next to my copies of Schlock Mercenary.

And this is Pinkie and Luna, two of my favorite ponies! Huzzah! The fun has been doubled!

Luna and Pinkie?

Oh this does look nice. :rainbowderp:

Well, whatever else can be said about the issue, that panel, at least, is a good one.

It's definitely "again," by the way.

The idea seems nice although that didn't strike me as being Pinkie's 'voice'

I hate Pinkie. Utterly. I hate her for being so chaotic and destructive and insensitive to her friends. :pinkiecrazy:

...This comic made me like her. That's a lot.

Too bad you kinda spoiled the best frame in the whole comic. Kinda knew it was coming before reading now.

This is easily one of the best issues in the Friendship Forever series since #4 and #3. :yay:

pinkie pie giving smart advice!?:pinkiegasp:

Did I end in an alternate world and didn't realize it?

As a Celestia fan I have to say this:

Celestia? Perfect? BWUAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! In what universe? Trusting Discord and letting him be released under her own will. The Tirek issue. The Changelings at the Wedding. Using the possible fall of a civilization back under the rule of a terrible tyrant under the guise of a 'test'?

... Yeah, no. No perfect. :trollestia: Apparently, just like at the end of the wedding, Luna misses some things.

Still a fan, but she's not perfect.

yeah, that is a powerful panel.

I mean, I really liked the issue.

To me the next panel is even better with Luna slumped over her desk and Pinkie creeping out.

The flashback panel of Alicorn Lyra fleeing from Nightmare Moon made the issue worth it by itself. But the Luna and Pinkie stuff was good too.

Please tell me they make Celestia not perfect.
