I'm tired, guys. In more ways than one.
The most obvious is that it's almost 2 in the morning and... hahaha it's 2 in the morning in the fic I'm writing too...
Sorry, I get a little loopy this late at night. i also tend to swear a bit so... warning.
Yes, it's early, and I'm tired, and of course I'm on a writing kick. Almost 1.5K tonight alone, not counting the ~300 from earlier today when I was bored. So yeah, progress! But that's not what I'm tired of.
I'm tired of humanity and society and even this community. More on that last one in a bit (no I'm not leaving)
It's not secret that I think humans are the worst thing to happen to this planet. However, I also hold a lot of hope. I joke a lot about how we should just go extinct already since our 10 thousand year lifespan is almost up, but really I do think humans can accomplish amazing things, but we're being held back by a number of things. That's not what I want to talk about right now.
My friend asked me, the other day, why civilian hostages are a number one priority in a war when they serve no tactical advantage. He said that winning the war should be the priority, and the civilians should always come second since they don't off any kind of advantage.
Can someone tell me how that could ever make sense to anyone? I was pretty pissed at him when he couldn't seem to understand that innocent lives should always be a priority. I wanted to punch him when he kept insisting that there's no point in saving them.
Like... how inhuman do you have to be to think like that? I just... I couldn't do it.
Aside from that, there was the Malaysian plane shot down the other day. 300 some-odd passengers, including AIDS researchers going to conference. And people in the US are bickering about how Obama is weak and should spend even more money on the military to intimidate Russia. Just... fucking hell. Can you people not understand that 300 innocent people have just died for no apparent reason?
Did you know that the top twenty money makers in the world earned enough in 2013 to end world hunger 4 times over?
Did you know that 4% of the people sentenced to death in America are later proved to be innocent?
Did you know that North Korea has drones along its boarder that can identify, shoot, and kill any human-shaped objects?
People have gotten death threats, and in some countries are even killed or imprisoned for being of a different religion or race or sexual orientation.
Fucking hell. Is there any humanity left in the human race? What is wrong with the world? We're killing our planet, killing ourselves, killing each other, and forcing hundreds of species into extinction.
I know this is all nothing new and stuff like this has been going on pretty much throughout the entire human history, but... Jesus Christ; we have the technology and knowledge now to do something about it! We have ways to connect with people all around the world, we have ways to start fixing world hunger and poverty and certainly enough money to do so if the rich bastards would spend some of it.
Fuck. Just... fuck. Fuck it all. Fuck it all to hell.
Anyone in a position to do something is corrupt out overpowered by those who are corrupt.
What even is humanity anymore? Maybe it's just me, but god damn it I care when hundreds of people are killed for no apparent reason. I care when thousands die ever year from hunger or sickness that could be easily stopped if the money was sent to the right place, and spent the right way.
I'm so tired of all this shit.
Oh, I was going to talk a bit about this community, wasn't I?
"Love and Tolerate". Remember that? We became known around the internet with that phrase. No, I'm not one of the idiots who think that every single person deserves to be loved or that everything should be tolerated. But I never took it that way. It's obvious not everyone and every opinion should be tolerated, but for fuck's sake you don't have to be fucking cruel about it. You don't have to bash and batter and insult. I don't even want to go into detail about any of this.
Just... fucking hell this community has completely gone to shit, and some of the most popular people are the worst for it. I'm not gonna bother naming any names, but some of the most followed people on this site are complete and utter ass hats. I knew they'd come when we got big; I knew they'd be loud and I prepared for it. But I wasn't ready for how loud they'd be or how many would come. It's insane. They've completely overwhelmed those of us who still actually care about each other and people outside out community. yes, we still to great things, we've done a lot of charity drives and have helped so many people, but within the community? The EQD comments section is a complete cesspool, and I don't even bother reading them most of the time. Tumblr's a fucking mess, and 4chan is fucking 4chan. FiMfic is decent, but we have out assholes too and I know there are going to be more and more of them as time goes on.
Maybe I'm the odd one out, but I genuinely care about other people, even those whom I don't agree with or don't particularly liked. If someone who hates my guts were to get cancer tomorrow, I'd fucking care about them. Because you wanna know something? We're both humans, and that should be all I need to care. I may not be the kindest or most thoughtful person, but I care about other people. I don't want other people to die or suffer. And you know what? Maybe they deserve it, maybe they truly deserve to die, but at the end of the day they are human and, I may not feel sorry for them, I will be sincerely saddened about them. Because they deserved it, and because it happened to them. It doesn't matter to me.
But this is already far too long of a blog, and I want to get back to writing something productive. Thoughts and such can be placed in the comments if you bothered to read all of this.

Thats sentience for you. Its the flip side of free will- responsibility, and theres never going to come a time when we're all ready for it. The best we can do is soldier on and use our time here on Terra- home, for whatever its worth- to do better than those who cannot.
If only every one was like you, or hold such a mentality, i'm pretty darn sure the world will be a better place. You just need to find the people or things that are worth spending time with and living for ! Dont give up ! And hope you find that silver lining !
The whole civilian hostages thing really depends on the most likely outcome of the war. If the rescue of said civilians were undoubtedly going to cost time and resources that could put them at a serious disadvantage, and the loss of the war would result in losing even more lives, and possibly the destruction of an entire country, then leaving the civilians is the more logical option. However, were it still within their ability to win the war AFTER rescuing the civilians, then it would be better to save them. I may disagree with you on several of these points, but I admire your care towards other human beings.
Eventually we're going to fuck ourselves so badly that nobody can fix it. The second this happens I bet we all decide to work together, because we're all idiots apparently. R.I.P those killed, hopefully everybody can realize how pointless your deaths were sometime soon.
Somebody finally said it! Everyone who has money just sits on their lazy asses all day, while people in other countries suffer. It's infuriating
