So I publicly came out as a brony... · 4:18am Jul 18th, 2014
So I was starting up a summer course at college a few days ago (I'm really hoping a new degree will help with getting a better job) and as expected, we were doing the traditional, "introduce yourself" exercise. One of the questions we each had to answer was, "What is your current favorite TV show?" As everyone else talked about how they were watching Breaking Bad, Sons of Anarchy, and Orange is the New Black, I contemplated whether to reveal the truth, or stick with a safe, effective answer and say that I was watching some of my favorite childhood cartoons on DVD. But as my turn came, I thought, what the heck? and told an entire class that I enjoyed watching a show about cartoon ponies learning valuable lessons in friendship.
And...well, not much happened, really. There were or two surprised looks, but most of the class seemed pretty non-chalant about it, including the professor. Maybe they had read so many stories about college students and adults liking the show, that to actually see one of them in person was almost a non-event. Or maybe some of them were bronies and relieved that they weren't alone. I don't know. But it was pretty interesting to reveal something you'd normally keep secret about yourself. But even more amazing is the thought that, only a few years ago, if you had told me that my favorite show would be My Little Pony, I would have humored you, but secretly thought you were nuts. If you had told me I'd be writing novel-length stories about those ponies, I would have walked away without saying a word.
My, how times have changed.
Nice to hear that it went so well!
Wow, that went better then what happened t m school, I got the shit kicked out of me by some ass holes, but now, they know not to fuck with me, they learned their lesson and started kissing my ass like I was a god, it was so great, and glad to see that it went well for you man, that's awesome, Thumbs up to you bro
It's nice to hear that the time were one was judged on these types are things are almost gone and we are becoming more tolerant of people with different tastes. Happy for you bro !!

So what you really want to say is: the folks in the U.S are getting more civilised like
GermansEuropeans right?Nah I'm happy that it turned out good for you Greenback... not that I actually ever got what the bif fuzz was about.
You should have told them generation 2
Wow, that's awesome! Everyone has a different way of dealing with the brony hate.
Yeah so I'm extremely late for the party. I actually just learned of this blog post after getting a reminder of the blog post talking about all the creepy toys.
Just wanted to say, that after coming out to my Communications class, telling everypony there that I spend most of my time talking on the World of Warcraft forums, arguing about the storyline for fun, most people don't care. They for the most part keep their opinions to themselves, which at times can be rather infuriating when you're trying for self-image.
So given everypony's reaction in the room, I can neither tell you if it was right or wrong of you to share that fact. At best there would be indifference, at worst there would be there would be disagreement pretending to be indifference or ignorance. Since I'm not a Changeling and can't gauge people's emotions or faces, they both look the same to me, and even if I told everypony there that I was chainsaw wielding clown that liked to poke dolphins in the ears, I suspect I would still get the same reaction.
