D'AWWW! · 5:24am Jul 14th, 2014
So today I was feeling all---
AND THEN---
My nephew just wrote his VERY FIRST EMAIL and it was to ME! And he signed it "I love you, [his name] . . . pony."
(By the way, the first person who introduces him to grimdark is going to learn what pain means in a whole new way, just so that's clear.)
Seriously, though, that is ADORABLE.
Do I have to tell you who his Best Pony is?
And now I am going to write something for realz.
D'awwww indeed.
That is so stinkin' cute!
Sometimes, I like a challenge.
But this is not one of them. Does he go on fimfiction though? What if I had some grimdark story, and he just so happened to stumble upon it? Would you still come after me with what I presume a hook to rip off my privates?
That's great for him though. Another for the Pinkie Pie club.
2283304 He's seven, so hopefully not. He likes Pinkie because she's "funny and silly," and he's partly responsible for converting me from Rainbow Dash. So it's probably one reason why I keep my fic to something where if, on the extreme off-chance he or his four year old sister stumbled across it, I wouldn't be ashamed to say, "yes, I wrote that." I'm not saying everyone has to, obviously, and I certainly read much more, um, challenging stuff occasionally. It's just something that's always in the back of my head.
Incidentally, Pinkie and Cheese liking each other a lot and eventually getting married and having foals of their own wouldn't exactly come as a huge shock to him, since he's engaged himself. They plan to marry, my Dad tells me, when they're 52. (This is also why ButtonBelle doesn't freak me out. Kids have silly playground "romances" that aren't anything at all except for cute.) But my Dad strenuously objects to anything even like standard "cartoon violence," which I have to say never got my knickers in a bunch, and I was a sensitive child.
No, of course I wouldn't, because threatening violence over violence just seems stupid, and if it's properly tagged away, it shouldn't be a huge problem. That's why I do Safe Searcg Wrap Up--just helping search engines filter content better and encouraging artists to tag their stuff. I'm not talking about writers, but fans who insist on copypasting big chunks of That Fic About Baked Goods in threads where everyone's made it very clear that they don't want to read it.
No pain you can give me is as great as the pain I feel every time I write grimdark.
... That's a pretty grimdark thing to say, right?
Aww, best email ever.
That's adorable Pinkie Pie is best pony
