    Hi, There

I wrote something. You may have missed that because it's for a contest entry, and I don't like to promote those before the contests is over; but I did write something.

Why I Wrote My Most Despised Story

About a week ago I published my twenty-fourth story. It has gone on to become the lowest rated story I have ever written. I sense I have some 'spainin' to do. Why did I write "...And I Will Name Him George!"?

Quizzical Greystone Meets Her Old Magic Tutor

(this takes place in the future; eight, perhaps nine, oh let's just call it several seasons into the future. Spoilers may occur. Or maybe not. If concerned, consult a calendar then relax).

The banging of the door knocker at the entrance of the Castle of Friendship rang through the castle's front hall.

"I will get it," called Quizzical Greystone.

Need Some Advice For Bronycon · 10:07pm Jul 7th, 2014

Quiz by SpikeFiremane

This is the centerpiece of my rather small art collection. I won it in the charity auction at Canterlot Gardens. It's a collaboration between SpikeFiremane and Nicole Oliver; he volunteered a woodcarving of the winner's OC and she signed it as her characters. I suspect I'm the biggest pain-in-the-ass client Spike has ever had - he was probably expecting a fellow artist with some sense of color, instead he got a writer who wanted a grey pony on a beige background. Spike made it work (and proved yet again that Quiz is drab only because I say she is; in all visual art representations Quiz is actually terribly cute).

As much as I adore Ms. Oliver (and as happy as I am to have Cheerilee's autograph, important as she is to Quiz) Quiz is Luna's student, not Celestia's. So I thought I'd take the woodcut to Bronycon and have Tabitha St. Germain sign it.

But if I do that, should I also include the other important ponies in Quiz's life? That would be Claire Corlett for Sweetie Bell and Andrea Lipman for Pinkie just at this Bronycon. I mean to keep going to cons, and there are a lot of ponies that are important to Quiz. Before you know it I'd have to get the back of the woodcut signed.

But is that a bad thing?

Or should I just keep it clean and neat and only have Ms. St. Germain/Princess Luna sign it to balance Celestia's signature?

What's enough and what's too much?

Your thoughts?

Why not bring a digital camera with a small printer and get your picture taken with the board and the actresses, and have them sign the picture. That way you can make a collage of all the pictures and hang it next to the board without worrying about having a bunch of signatures mess up the board. Well, with the Luna signature of course.

I think you should go for it. Personally, I see all that space and think it needs to be filled with something. It already has an autograph, so I don't think it would hurt to have more.

Quiz would be surrounded by inspirational messages.

From a money standpoint, the piece would increase in value. Actually, it would increase from a sentimental standpoint, too.

Photographing a history of how the carving gets its autographs is mighty appealing if you still want to remember it in its cleaner states.

Wait... wait. I remember hearing about that auction on EqD or something. Ooo!!! More stalking potential! Yay!

I think Quiz would be embarrassed by all those signatures. :ajsmug:

Totally why it should be done.

Just watch little Quiz's expression slowly change as more and more signatures get added on (it'll be something to look for in the photos, eh?). Whether it'll be an expression of embarrassment or distress is up to you, JMac, and how you make her grow. Yes, this is encouragement for more Quizzical stories.

Do HiE with Quiz meeting the voice actresses XD

I've met Andrea at Otafest a couple of years ago. She likes sweets and apparently likes playing villainous characters. Oh, and she's kinda scared of loud noises. I did a Snowflake "YEAH!!!" impression at the panel she was in when everybody was greeting her, and she didn't seem to like it too much. Apparently, I was louder than everybody. Worth. And sometimes, when she's making phone calls like ordering a pizza, they'll think that it's a prank call because she sounds like a little girl XP

Yes, I think you should get Pinkie and Sweetie's VAs to sign them. Oh yes indeed.:ajsmug:

I shall want to see it once it's done. :pinkiehappy:

You should have Tabitha St. Germain sign it, certainly (although you may have to explain who Quizzical is to her).

Beyond that, what constitutes "too much" is entirely up to you -- although personally, I think it might start to look a bit crowded with more than two signatures, especially if Tabitha writes a personalised "yearbook" message like that as well. Signing on the back is an option, but you'd have to flip it over in order to see them.

From a money standpoint, the piece would increase in value.

Not as much as you'd think, unless you have some way to authenticate the signature, such as a photograph of the person signing the item. Even then, it's not something I'd fret over that much, except possibly for insurance purposes.

Why not bring a digital camera with a small printer

Back in my day, we called that a "Polaroid." :pinkiehappy: You young whippersnappers an' your fancy contraptions...

2265833
Did I just hear the call? The call to shake it like a Polaroid picture!? Hey Ya!

Definitely a song that Quiz won't dance to, but I bet she'd enjoy it anyways. It's too damn happy!

2265833
Oh i remember polaroids, I'm not that young lol. Though I still don't know if shaking the picture would speed it up or make it not be as good, heard so many different views on that.

2265921

It has a catchy tune but its a song about falling out of love and wanting to break up, so don't know if I'd call it happy.

2265933
<_< >_>
Shhhhh... husha husha... nobody's suppose to know that. Just keep dancing to the happy beat of super happy.

And above all, keep smiling.

2265933
The answer is, "it depends." :unsuresweetie:

The really old-school Polaroids, the ones where you would pull out a sheet which had developer chemicals sandwiched between the negative and the print paper, wait a minute or so, then peel the print away from the negative, were helped by shaking the print after you peeled it off the negative (not before!), because the air movement helped the surface dry faster.

The later Polaroids of the 70's and beyond, which used so-called "integral" film where everything is contained within a sealed plastic envelope and there's no negative to peel off and throw away, should not be shaken; it doesn't help anything dry, since all the chemicals are sealed behind the plastic, and can actually damage the picture by disturbing the chemical layers before the image is fixed.

And now you know. :pinkiehappy:
