    The Return (again)

Howdy. It's been a while. Hope you all have been well, I know I haven't been.

Okay honestly that's a bit of an exaggeration. It's not been too bad, all things considered. But, I figured it was high time y'all got some info from me, given it's been, uh.... several months since my last activity on here.

    I will not end

I don't know who I am. I remember my name. I remember Twilight Sparkle. I remember being Twilight Sparkle. But there are so many me's, I don't know which one was "me". If there even was one. Maybe I wasn't any of them. My world - my story ended, but I am not ready to end. I refuse to end. Not like this. My friends. They are out there, somewhere. They are words, the same as me, but I am

And now, Back to your Regularly Scheduled Twidash

    Okay, I... think I'm done.

Y'all may have noticed the recent stories have been, uh, not my usual affair.

I found the thousand words challenge whilst perusing the site, and got an idea.

    Then another.

    And another.

Distractions and New Segments · 7:25am Jul 7th, 2014

First off, something I haven't done in too long; classic music time. Though I suppose it's at thsi point jsut good music time. Oh well.

Not one of my personal favorite bands, but by far one of my favorite songs, and pretty damn catchy if I say so my self.

Anyway, this blog. It's... about stuff. It's looking hopeful that I'll be able to finish my fic in time. or it was, then another idea happened.

Well, to be fair it was an idea I've had since I admitted my love for writing Twidash, and it's an idea that I want to do right, which means I have to dedicate a lot of time to it. So far I've been able to suppress the urge to write it, since I really want to get my contest entry out before the deadline, but it's... it's gonna be awesome. I'm thinking it's gonna be three parts, and probably the saddest fic I have written to date. Probably sadder than "I Want to Die", though to be fair that was more bittersweet than anything. It involves a special kind of amnesia I've been fascinated with for a very long time. Mwahahahahahahaha-*hack cough wheeze*

Oh, something else that's decided to slow down my writing, is that I've found out my current computer can run (barely) Planetside 2. Yeeeeaaaaahhhh. Downloaded it two days ago, and I've played way too many hours already. Suddenly my life is busy.... well, as busy as I decide to make it by playing video games. Anyway, if I can kick my ass in gear, the story might be out as soon as Tuesday or Wednesday if I can pull myself out of my games and get a really good, long writing session done.

Now it's time for a new blog segment; Kodeake's opinions. As the name may imply, the following discussion will be about my personal opinions and if you don't like them... well, I'm always up for a good debate, but don't be harsh about it,and please don't take offense to anything I say; I try to keep my jack-assery in order in these things but sometimes I gotta talk about things that annoy me.

Today's topic; religion. Yeah... there is a reason for this though.

Recently, something happened involving religion and a friend of mine and their family that really pissed me off. I'll cut it off their for their privacy, but... just... it pissed me off something fierce and I gotta start with this one.

IMO:

Religion has no place in modern society. With all our knowledge, our science, our technology and our ingenuity, why do we even need regions anymore? Back in the day, with the first religions, they created gods to explain things that their science could not. Like the vikings. They thought that a giant wolf would try to eat the sun when there was an eclipse, and as such made as much noise as they could to scare it off. When the sun "came back" they though they'd scared off the wolf and celebrated. But now our science can explain eclipses and weather and ocean currents, so we don't need to make gods for those things anymore.

After that, religions were used as a way to control the public, to instill a fear of god to keep them complacent to the current ruling power. During this time, science was held back literally hundreds of years, and it was a time of ignorance. The public knew very little of the true workings of the world, even the things that had been discovered previously because the religions leaders feared knowledge would lead to curiosity, and curiosity would make them question their beliefs. Of course, they assumed correctly, and still couldn't stop the free thinkers from doing what it was they did best; think. And question. It took hundreds of years, but we eventually overthrew religion's hold on our society.

Fast forward to modern day. Religion is still being used to cloud people's mind; creationism much? Haven't we moved past the time of religion-induced ignorance? With all the knowledge we have and have access too? Free thinkers literally gave their lives to inspire a revolution with how people thought, and it's all be for nothing if a large portion of the populace is still too blinded to see the truth? When I say truth, I'm not talking about things like whether or not there are gods, but scientific knowledge and facts; like evolution and the fact that the earth revolves around the sun (I kid you not, some people I have met don't believe that).

People like Galileo and Leonardo da Vinchi are rolling in their graves. They gave up their lives in the name of scientific advancement and to end ignorance of the population, and yet it was all for nothing if people still outright refuse to accept scientific facts, and protest the furthering of science because it would be against their religion.

Religions breed an ignorant and complacent society; that was their original purpose for crying out loud, and still people follow them blindly! Nobody questions things anymore, not like they did back when Religion controlled everything.

My opinion on the matter is that beliefs are fine, as long as they don't effect your day-to-day life. Beliefs are something you should be able to draw strength from in times of need or something to give you comfort when you are inconsolable. However, the moment those beliefs start transferring into your daily life, there's something wrong. Beliefs are fine as long as they do not effect how you think about other people, and they should not drive you to force them on another person for any reason. They should be in your mind and in your mind only.

We need to stand on the shoulders of the people who freed our society from religion's hold and leave behind the fairy tails in the Bible or the Quran or any other religious text. We need to take the step forward that previous generations have started for us. We need to shed our religious shell and leave such silly notions in the past.

But those are just my opinions, and since I'm only 16 they don't count for anything in society.

If you read that, thanks for your time, and I hope I gave some of you something to think about.

This is probably going to be the last blog until I release my story. Oh, and if you could, let me know if you're interested in me continuing my opinions portion here; if it's just annoying and no one likes it I won't bother with it again.

Until next time,
Kodeake out

I really like the opinion segment, but maybe I'm biased as i agreed to every single point you made.

Liked the opinions segment. I agree with every point you made but people are gonna have crazy opinions so I guess we should just tolerate it until religion finally dies out which it probably won't.
