If you haven't read this, you need to

Fresh from the "it's a crime if this doesn't get featured" list, is the short story Riverdream At Sunset.

It's written as an 1800's period piece, with trappings more than reminiscent of Doyle or Verne and absolutely hits the spot on the whole look and feel.

I blame it on Terry Pratchett

Years ago, at school, I picked up a book. I blame what happened next on Terry Pratchett.

    state of the bunny, 2015

    So it's a new year.

The previous one has passed much like every other one did, with a bang as much as with a whimper. For a while here, it was sodding cold, and I mean real proper brass monkey weather. Right now it's barely below zero, and instead of snow we've got rain and ice. Seriously, I could skate down my driveway.

"chrysalis vs hearth's warming" may be a little late

    I know, I know: I missed hearth's warming.

Well, I'm still writing my christmas special so you'll just have to wait. I think it'll be worth it...

it features everyone's favourite changeling queen and her endless quest to destroy all love and happiness everywhere - this time by blowing up cinder claws and destroying hearth's warming. And how that doesn't quite go according to plan...

santa middymas is coming to town

I made a list, I checked it twice. Not sure to find out how is naughty or nice...

Anywag, the winners of my admittedly haphazard and wonky contest were:

    Sypher Magical Trevor
    Professor Plum

here I am, this is me · 9:42pm Jun 21st, 2014

I'm alive, still.

Outside it's muggy and hot, and dark. Inside it's warm, too warm, and stuffy. I'm sitting on a faux-leather sofa with the recliner up and a free-standing lamp providing more than enough light to see by. The seat is hot and sticky; I'd never buy a sofa like this. Not, at least, one covered in this stuff. It's comfy, but I have to peel myself off it like I'm shelling a crab when I want to get up. Added to that, my laptop is a titchy thing with a twitchy trackpad that keeps spazzing out and screwing with my mouse cursor.

somehow, despite all this, and despite next to no internet, next to no sleep, terrible beds and being shuttled to and fro like the world's largest, most dumpy ping-pong ball, I have written something.

I know, I know, I should be writing one of my two extant stories. Well, again, I'm writing those too, but this story idea wouldn't leave me alone and I had to have something to warm up on. So, when it pops up, I hope you enjoy Dancing in the Sky. I've just had to set it to teen, so barring anything else being wrong with it, it should hopefully be up sometime soon.

It's set roughly in the world of Friendship is Optimal, which, being sci-fi, lends itself to a multiplethora of settings. It's probably very, very lumpy and the end probably needs polishing and the middle needs fixing and the beginning is weak and oh hell who am I kidding you'll probably hate it, but it's hot, it's late, I'm tired and I wrote something and dammit you can like it or not.

I feel like I should add to it, so I'm leaving it as unfinished, but this is probably all you get from me, unless someone else wants to take a turn. If you can't figure out what's going on by the end of it, then I can explain... but I'm hoping that lightbulbs flicker on all over about half way.

Let's see if I'm right.

Oh, and my personal issues are improving, at least at the moment. I'm still pretty sure there's going to be screaming, tears, curses and langoliers before long, but at the moment I'm coasting by.

The great midnightshadow has spoken. I would definitely check out that story and hope your personal issues come to a level where you remain relax and comfortable.

Great to see you back, Midnight, and I'm glad things are looking up for you as well, sticky faux-leather chairs aside. Just remember, you're not alone: :pinkiehappy:

Langoliers... I hate those guys. Always hungry. And I don't have the time to feed them.

Story faved, thumbed, update checked.

You blog title reminds me I have the bluray of that movie coming on Monday or Tuesday :pinkiehappy:

Neat little story - thanks for sharing. I'm glad to hear that some sunlight is piercing the clouds, as well.

I can read the story later. Mostly I'm just glad to hear you're sorta-kinda ok.

Hopefully you get into today and escape yesterday...you know how those langoliers are.

(I am so happy BIA got remodeled after that)

Good to know things are improving, even if just a little bit.

I'm glad to read that things are getting better for you.

Yeah... what all these other guys said, and then some.

Take care, Middy :rainbowdetermined2:
