I blame presentperfect:
Entirely for this one. A simple two-line mention of a story contest sent me idly clicking over to check out the rules, and bam, there it is, the first line of a story popping into my head. Two weeks later, that story's done, a thing called "Trial by Flower," and I'll be submitting it to the site and to the contest here in a minute. Then can I finally get back to work on the Rarity story I've been planning for the past eight months?? Please??

oh-ho, what I did! :D
Still trying to finish my own, but it suffered feature creep. I started with one human, one alicorn OC, one OC/established character romance, one extra element of harmony, and a few lines in second person evenly spread across the whole thing; now I have two humans (with a third mentioned), two romances, two extra elements, two OC alicorns, the sections from the point of view of one specific character in second person, and the whole thing threatening to end larger than the size limit
It's what happens when I'm having too much fun thinking about a plot

...Wow.
That story sounds like it will either be the greatest thing ever or the worst thing ever. The fact that you obviously know that all those pieces are normally really bad does give me hope that it will be the former. I just might give it a look when you're done.

I feel:
That this disembodied Applejack head - - is somewhat appropriate.

I've been going through and reading the stories as Obs posts them in the contest's group, and there have been a couple pretty good ones so far. Can't wait to see the rest!

Look at it like this: I know that they are usually bad, I believe I know why they are usually bad, and I have already seen most of them used to great effect (Past Sins, for example, is one big story about an OC alicorn). I believe I have a roadmap that can take me through the pitfalls and into something that, if not great, should be at least acceptable. I'm just not sure I have the skill to follow through
End result, I think my story will be either very interesting or a total train wreck. Or perhaps both But I'm sure I will have a lot of fun writing it
