It's a daily! It's not getting any cheaper than this people!

Language warning in that video.

AAAaaaahhh!!! I haz ponies to write. Must... resist... temptation...
Edit: You fiend. I got it.

already have it, highly recommend

...if I though my PC had a chance to run it even slightly decently, I'd go for it...

Wish I could but my laptop died this morning.

Rest assured, Arad, that I have acess to another computer, so I can still help with proof reading.

Buy it now, keep it in reserve for when you have a box that can run it!

*Sniffle*

I wish I had money :fluttercry:

I'm one of those folks that grabs when they can... because no telling if they'll pull it from the Steam store. I've had that happen with more than a few games that were on my wishlist and I waited too long. Yes, I know, XCOM is popular, but my point stands.

Already bought it earlier this spring directly because of Stardust.

And if you already have it, hurry up and install Long War!

Finally bought it! I hope it lives up to my expectations!

So what is the difference between this and ps3 enemy within?

Plus I doubt my 10 year old computer can play it.

damn it steam. get your damn hands out of my pockets.

:facehoof: I hate you steam

What? I... Ergh... Why couldn't that sale have been a few days ago!? I just bought it and now it goes on sale!? CURSE YOU STEAM!

2220107 You bought something in summer BEFORE the summer sale? There's your problem! :derpytongue2:
Seriously though, that sucks.

I've already got too many games that I can't run for that very reason, so I'm limiting myself to games I can run...
...like Don't Starve.

2219985 sadly, yeah, im hoping to save something for a later purchase, but ive put off playing xcom because I wanted to get enemy within for pc, given it fixes alot of the dead end research techs to something useful.

This, I installed it a week ago. It's amazing how much more fun the game is.

2220084

For one thing, mods. Long War makes it almost like an entirely new game.

2220154

Might I suggest Hero Siege?

2220008 You could buy it while it is on sale and if you do get a computer that can run it then you will already have it.

2220276
Hm, looks right up my alley, I may pick it up if it goes on sale more....

I picked it up for $5, and I've dropped four hours into it tonight. It's a bit like a high-fantasy Binding Of Isaac. Very fun. Lots of variety with the different character styles too.

2220264 Is long war kind of like the second wave thing for marathon or whatever it was called? Or much different?

2220864
Very different
If you thought vanilla was hard long war is worse (and I love it)
Unlike the vanilla long war won't hold your hand and you will encounter scenarios no amount of save scuming will help you

That aside more weapons and research was added a better interceptor mini game also more skills and classes

Wow... I love it when Steam puts something on sale, I buy it and then roughly a month later it goes on yet another, BIGGER sale... Oh well.

:rainbowwild:Going out tomorrow to get a steam card to buy the complete pack, I've been wanting it for a while!

MINE! I've been debating buying X:Com for Steam for a while. I played through it on my PS3, but I've seen some neat mods for PC that I wanted to try. Too bad there aren't any pony mods yet.

2220264 I bought the game shortly after finishing Stardust. Played the vanilla and was impressed. Then I played Long War and bricks were shat.

Also, needs to be pony mods in honor of Stardust!

*sigh* It's times like these that really test my resolve. (I'd sooner pirate than pay for DRM, I'm too principled to pirate, and GOG.com still hasn't managed to strike a deal with the copyright holders for the X-Com franchise.)

I got it, and it is great! Though I like your story more. It has twily for one, and I don't hear/read the same thing over, and over, and over, and over, and over again.

Is it wrong that I've gotten two all-Excellent terror missions (out of two attempts) on Normal, on my first time through the game, with no savescumming shenanigans...

...but ever since my starting Heavy died, I have never had a Heavy survive a mission? Seriously, I'm like poison to Heavies or something.

Now, what does this have to do with anything?
Because I didn't know about the sale until Arad mentioned it. (THANK YOU FOR THAT BY THE WAY. THANK YOU A MILLION THANKS)

It has also spontaneously ported itself to Linux.

God I love Steamplay. It's the most addictive thing ever.

Steam is a bit different than most DRM schemes, as the steam platform itself adds a lot of value. Nobody is better than Valve at coming up with useful meta features, and Steam gives a ton of unique ones away for free.

2222051

Dude, Stardust itself needs to be a mod. Your research depends on how well you manage the emotional state of a certain neurotic purple unicorn. Keep her happy and she makes uber gear for you. Fail to buy/capture/complete missions for the things she wants at the right times and she starts randomly preventing your soldiers from going on missions.

2225528

Yeah. Steam would be like heroin to me if I allowed myself to use it. Hence, I can't allow myself to use it because I have a strict policy that:

1. When I pay for something digital, it must be technologically impossible for me to wind up with neither my purchase nor a refund... just like physical goods. (In other words, a DRM-free option so they can't accidentally or purposefully revoke my purchase.)

2. I insist on playing/reading/viewing/hearing the same build of a resource that I get to archive.

That #2 one is why I can't do something like "Buy DRM-free on Humble Store, redeem Steam key". (For example, my brother has had no problems with Strike Suit Zero through Steam+Linux but I'm still trying to figure out why the DRM-free Linux build refuses to start. Imagine if I played the Steam version and then, some day down the road, discovered that my backup plan was no good.)

2223911 LOL. For me, my assaults seem to have a ridiculously short lifespan. And well... I"ve had to savescum once or twice because of misclick or derp :P (*though i let people who died die). It is also my first time through the game :twilightsheepish:

But I SOMEHOW managed to complete the Council's Site Recon mission without having to restart the mission or savescum. Without Laser weapons and only one mec.

Let me be clear. I completed the mission where you have to fight through Chryssalids to a Chryssalid Hive (in a Sperm whale) where you have to activate a transponder and then have 8 turns to GTFO before an airstrike comes into nuke the map. Al the while, Chryssalids keep spawning here and there and are always on your ass. On basic weaponry.

2225540 ...X-com + Princess Maker? I approve of this mod! :pinkiehappy:

Whoot! Thanks for the Alert.
I am very happy with the game. My friends told me about it a while back, but I was waiting for a sale.

Also this as well as a handful of other fan-fictions suggested it.
Xsgcom is the main one. Technically a bad fanfiction, but it is unique so the monopoly gives it high status.
