Throwing a proposition out there (no not like that! Outta the gutter!) · 12:04pm May 20th, 2014
Y'know, I've been thinking about this for quite some time, but have just now worked up the nerve to get this out there. For a couple'a reasons. First, I'm not entirely sure I have the skills to manage a project like I'm thinking about. Second, I dunno, it just seemed presumptuous for me to ask. And third, I'm not sure if I have the... clout? fame? readership? to get my request out there and picked up by someone who's both interested and talented enough to make this a good production. I mean, I have a much bigger readership than I ever originally thought I'd get, but even so these blog posts of mine tend to get something like 30 views a pop or so. Still, I've finally decided to try. The worst that'll happen is, well, nothing.
Here's the idea: I want Storm of Chaos to have either a dramatic reading or radio play done about it.
I'm thinking dramatic reading, as a radio play would require soooo much more than I think I can handle. Just off the top of my head, we'd need actors for all major characters (and that's a rather sizable list, especially considering each act brings in its own cast), sound engineers, both in creating foleys and general sountrack, rewriting of the material to work in that format, and any number of things I'm sure I'd never think of without asking Pony in a Box for hints or something. But a dramatic reading? All we'd need is one good voice with the ability to at least act out the characters properly (if you've ever read a book on tape, most readers don't even vary their voices that much, but the good ones still evoke the characters well enough that you know exactly who they are quoting), and a sound guy to put in a bit of a soundtrack and maybe some sound effects like a dematerializing TARDIS or something. I myself can not really do either, or else, well, I'd just do it myself. For one thing--at least on the vocal front--I am an American. Very, very American. And I can't fake a British accent to save my life--whether from the North or any other region. And while that really wouldn't be much of a concern for almost any other series, Doctor Who is so quintissentially British I think I'd be doing the series a major disservice if at the very least the Doctor Who characters didn't have appropriate accents. (There are other things, too, like me just not having a good recording voice or being all that good an actor)
So, first things first, I need a reader. We can find a sound guy later, unless you're able to do both, and if you can by all means use those skillz in the audition. The segment I'd like to use for audition is Chapter 5: "Don't Just Don't," Starting from "Another scream, another pony down" down to the end of the chapter. If you're interested, shoot me a youtube link or something in the comments, or even send me a P.M. to work out other means to get an audition to me. If you want to see this happen, but aren't too confident in your ability to directly contribute, get the word out.
The one real catch is that, well, this is being done as a hobby. I'm kinda a poor schmuck who couldn't afford to pay ya even if I wasn't sure about the legalities of doing so. This would all be just done during free time to get it out there. Which also means, of course, that I wouldn't be trying to force some unreasonable schedule on you either, though I would like to produce something along the lines of a chapter or two a week, if at all possible.
I'm actually really nervous about this, but, heck, let's see what happens.
Well I'm a fairly decent reader. Would you like to hear my voice?

Certainly. D'you have a youtube channel or anything? If so, send me a link, so's I can check things out. Also, the official piece of script to audition with is written in the blog post. So, read through that specific story bit 'n send me a link to it (or send it to me direct--PM me to work out the details) and I'll be sure to hear it within a day or less of it going up.
2128900 No I don't have a youtube channel but I can send you a recording via email do you prefer mp3 or anything like that?

I don't really have a preference, though MP3 is probably the best balance between quality and size. I'd also prefer a link of some sort as opposed to sending it to me direct through email, but if you have to use direct email PM me and we'll work out teh details.
Outta the gutter signifies a departure from a low point to something better. In a metaphorical sense, it symbolizes rising above challenges. Amidst this journey, individuals seek guidance and assurance. They turn to sources like leaffilter reviews, aiming to make informed decisions, much like navigating through debris in a gutter to find clarity. These reviews serve as beacons of insight, illuminating pathways towards cleaner, smoother experiences. Thus, Outta the gutter encapsulates not just a physical ascent but a mental and emotional elevation towards brighter horizons.
