Slight change of plans (Mente Materia release date) · 8:10pm May 7th, 2014
Afternoon folks!
Due to some unanticipated circumstances I am afraid I'm going to need to push back the release date for the first few chapters of Mente Materia. I had some repairs done on my computer that -should- have taken three days. Those three days have transformed into a full week where I've been without my desktop computer. Said computer also had all the downloaded episodes that I was going to marathon to refresh my memory of Season 4. I -was- going to make the final decision to adapt Season 4 into MM or diverge after watching it but it's a bit hard when I don't have the episodes to watch. >_<
Also, seeing as how the season finale is this Saturday, I will likely hold off on releasing Mente Materia until Monday of next week. I thank everyone for their understanding regarding the delay. :(

It's true what others have said--your own issues take priority over writing. There would have been alternatives to watching downloads if it had been another issue than losing your own computer (however temporarily). Hasbro, on The Hub's own website, has all of MLP:FiM S4 available for viewing, this week only.

More seriously, though, no worries. The fact that you even try to hold a regular pattern for updating sets you above half the writers on this site, myself included.

If you need a quick source for the episodes, look up MysteriousBrony on Dailymotion. They've got all of the episodes there in HD.
Computer issues happen. Take your time, good sir. Better to release something you're truly confident in than rush it at the expense of quality.
Now, as for Season 4 incorporations, I actually think that would be a wise choice for 4 reasons.
1 - Twilight needs time not only to adjust to her new wings and title as princess but to also let her friends help her work through some of the trauma from Stardust if she's going to be at her best for the trials to come. Let her have some time to laugh and cherish her Ponyville friends before getting back into the fray.
2 - Discord's actions during the Season 4 premiere (and Three's a Crowd to a lesser extent) could be seen as further tests of Twilight and Equestria's odds in the coming invasion. Giving up the Elements of Harmony, a force Discord has told Celestia will fail against the Ethereals, can be seen as the Equestrian equivalent of X-COM excepting Twilight's help and not dissecting her like they would any other alien. Humans have proved they can adapt with unexpected circumstances, even if doing so seems to go against all logic and rationality. If Equestria is to survive it must do the same. Returning the elements and convincing Celestia and Luna to ally with Earth seems like a step in the right direction.
3 - This one has spoilers for the upcoming finale. Fair warning.
Judging by Tirek's magic-draining power in the teaser, I'd say he has something in common with the Ethereals. One of their in-game abilities they like using on mind controlled targets is Psi Drain, a psionic ability that syphons energy from the target and heals the wounded Ethereal. In fact, one of the in-game dialogues the Uber Ethereal says during the final mission is that they have been forced to feed on the gift within lesser beings to sustain themselves as they sought to uplift them.
With this in mind, Tirek could be a real wake-up call to all Equestria about the horrors that are now gunning for them. If it takes all the princesses, Discord and rainbow powered Twilight and friends to stop Tirek what hope do they have at stopping a million-voiced hive mind from turning every living thing on the planet into a psionic all-you-can-eat buffet? After this, I could see Twilight and the royal sisters pursuing that alliance with humans more aggressively.
4 - I'd love to see Twilight setting up X-COM's Equestria Base in her castle just for Matt and Lana's reactions when they arrive there.
Uh, well... that portrait is, um... Haunted! Yes, it's haunted by a... young mare who thinks you're attractive!
