You guys have no idea how happy that makes me. I think I've settled on which multi-chapter story I will write once I decide to start it...

Well, there's the "Sombra engaged in a little ethnic cleansing" theory. Killed off all the horned crystal ponies as potential threats, and either did the same with the winged ones, or used them as warriors and got them killed off. I'm sure a few stragglers managed to survive, and pony genetics are weird (*cough* Cakes *cough*), so I could see a few popping up here and there, especially as foals.
Or, if you want something a little more family-friendly, maybe there are no pure-bred crystal ponies with wings or horns, and that one had a pegasus somewhere in the family tree.

I find that first one terrifying plausible.
That is an interesting observation, perhaps they associate unicorns with evil thanks to Sombra?
