Ponyfinder interest check. · 3:38pm Apr 25th, 2014
Would any of you guys be up for playing a one-shot Ponyfinder game sometime in the next few weeks? I'd honestly rather play than GM because I've never done the latter before and am a bit out of practice with the former, but I'd be willing to learn if you guys can put up with a newbie GM. And if one of you wanted to run the game instead, I'd be all up for that.
i would.
Sure~
Screw ponyfinder just make your own system.

Much easier said than done.
Uh...that's a role playing game, right? I know I've heard of it before.
Obviously you can tell this isn't exactly my forte haha--I've never played it, but I'd totally be up for learning how, so count me in.
Depends. When were you planning to play and how? I assume through some sort of instant messenger system.
I'd like to, assuming my schedule would allow it.
Would you be using something like Roll20 to host the game?

2050218 My first thought is using roll20, but first I have to figure out the interface so it'll probably take me a couple weeks. It's not very noob friendly on the GM side. If that doesn't work, my next thought is Skype.
As for scheduling, my open nights are Sunday, Friday, and Saturday. I can also do Saturday afternoon.

Well, I've never tried to use it before, so I'd have to take a look. I'm free Friday nights and sometimes either Saturday or Sunday but which one varies.
I'd love to, but I have no prior knowledge of roleplaying (Apart from the very basics and having listened to stories from Noah Antwiler on youtube). Would I need to buy some stuff for it? I know you normally do, even if you don't DM.
Also, I'm from Germany, so how would that translate to your timezone? (Just for reference, don't really care on weekends)
2068169 No, you wouldn't have to buy anything. You can find everything you need online. The Pathfinder PRD contains all the Pathfinder rules and stuff exactly as it is in the books. The SRD has all the Pathfinder rules as well as extra third party content such as items, spells, and that sort of stuff. The first is better for learning how to play the game, while the second is better for quick-searching rules, spells, feats, and everything else. Both are completely legal as well, most people just buy the books because they're infinitely more convenient to use.
I'd probably do it about two or three in the afternoon here if I do it on a Saturday, which translates to 21:00 or midnight your time. Sunday and/or weekdays would be three or four hours later than that.
I can also walk you through character creation and all that stuff because it can be confusing the first time. I'd kind of have to, too, since everybody would (I assume) be playing a pony. I still have to figure out what to do about that. It's not fair or reasonable to expect everyone who plays to buy their own copy of Ponyfinder. You don't do that in a real-life game and I see no reason to do it in an online game either. On the other hand, I don't want the PDF I bought to make its way onto the internet at large, both because I think that people who want a copy that badly should pay for it, and because it's watermarked and can easily be traced back to me.
