...'cause I heard it was full of dark and gritty feels and shit. Also, there were hints that there were a ton of spoilers. Here's my first reaction:
Episode 1: Cool opening music. I don't think there's not gonna be much spoilers if the very first shot is the titular character in a magical girl outfit BAWLING HER EYES OUT. Yeah, I see where this is going. People are definitely dying as soon as she makes that contract or whatever.
Episode 2: Hey, make that contract already! You wasted enough time with the first episode. You're not going to have your magical-girlhood as a spoiler when you're the poster child of the series.
And for the rest of the show, my viewpoints were shared with a bunny-cat.

I googled the movie.
I watched it this morning.
This is my reaction.
Ho boy.
Wait, what’s going on? Why is everyone alive? Why is everybody alive and not crying in misery? Why is Mami living with that witch who bit her head off? Why isn’t that Incubator asshole talking? EVERYTHING IS TURNED ON ITS HEAD AND HOMURA IS TALKING WITH MADOKA AND THEY’RE FRIENDS AND SUDDENLY I’M HAPPY.
Oh, so this whole movie is in a labyrinth. None of this is real. Thank you that makes a little more sense. Oh look, Homura remembers stuff now. Everything’s coming together.
Okay, so Homura is asking the cast questions about their memories and pointing out plotholes. This movie is getting more sober by the second AND NOW MAMI IS BATTLING HOMURA AND THE ANIMATION IS SO SPECTACULAR I CAN’T AFHUIEOFHWEOHMCHEEFUQP.
Holy shit. Holy shit, people. HOLY. FUCKING. SHIT. Homura just figured out that she’s a witch. Kyubey is talking again and spilling EVERYTHING. All the while, the animators have worked their asses off to make this labyrinth the best fucking labyrinth ever. Everything might as well be exploding. Some of the labyrinth is already doing that. This isn’t exposition, this is EXPLODING-SITION.
Crap, now Homura’s a full-blown witch. I’ve always wondered what she’d look like as a witch. Also, we get to find out what goes on inside the mind of a witch. That’s cool, I guess. It’s really nothing special. I can’t believe this entire movie has been leading up for a chance for Homura to just fucking die. I suppose she deserves it, though. I mean that in the best possible way. Rest in peace, Homura. I really hope you do.
Final thoughts? Well, at least I used up all my sense of surprise. Good thing, too. I was starting to overdo the caps-lock key. Now everyone is getting ready for the finale battle AND I COMPLETELY FORGOT ABOUT SAYAKA AND BEBE. THERE IS NOW WITCHES BATTLING WITCHES ONSCREEN LIKE GIANT FUCKING ROBOTS. WITCHES ACTUALLY FIGHTING FOR THE FORCES OF GOOD AND THE ANIMATORS SPARED NO EXPENSE. NOTHING IN THIS SERIES COULD POSSIBLY BE MORE AWESOME THAN THIS.
Wow, that was fun. Glad we’re out of the labyrinth now. Also glad that Pirate Cadence recommended this. Now, all Goddess!Madoka has to do is mercy-kill Homura and we can roll credits.

Wait. This ending’s too happy. Waaaaay too happy. Something HAS to go wrong.
SHIT! HOMURA DONE FUCKED UP EVERTHING. THINGS HAVE DEFINITELY GONE WRONG. HOMURA IS RE-CREATING THE UNIVERSE JUST LIKE MADOKA DID AND NOW SHE’S LITERALLY THE DEVIL AND-

I’m actually happy for her. Yeah, I’m okay with this. Yeah. Good for Homura. She sacrificed herself tons more than Madoka did, and Madoka’s the one that became a god. Sure that god’s job was to mercy-kill every magical girl ever, but that took a millisecond for her! Homura’s life has been nothing but shit. Sure, this ending is fucked up. It’s more than fucked up. It is spectacularly fucked up. This is an ending where a hero turns into all-powerful demon and rewrites the laws of reality. You’d be hard-pressed to find a more morally fucked up ending than this. But you know what? This demon that Homura turned into is more human than that Jesus-imitation Madoka could ever be. She epically told off the Incubators with a smile on her face, and that’s more than enough for me. And hey, she has Madoka with her. This is the ending to the series that I’ve always wanted, and it’s just fucked up and miserable enough to stay this way with no twists whatsoever. This is so much better than Homura just dying. Fingers crossed though; the movie isn’t over yet.

OH FUCK MADOKA’s BECOMING A GOD AGAIN no wait false alarm Homura’s calmed her down with a super awesome hug it’s ok everything’s gonna be alright and what do mean it’s part of a trilogy and now I’ve completely stopped making sense but it’s ok because Homura’s dancing over Kyubey’s mangled body! Yay. Fun times.
