Indeed. That's why we all pronounce Russia as "Rossiya", Japan as "Nihon", and Germany as "Deutschland". Because it would be wrong to pronounce them in a different way than the people who named them.

Linguistics is a stupid target to argue about. "How do you pronounce this word? *Gasp* You pronounce it differently than I do? You must be an idiot and are now required to say it my way."

Please, I give exactly zero fucks about how you pronounce your words, unless you invented the thing the word is used for.

BTW (Bee-Tee-Dub), I pronounce countries the way I was taught to, so to me Russia is Rush-i-ya. Japan is Jah-pan. Germany is as it's spelled, Jer-man-ee. I realize that they're wrong to those countries' natives, but in this language that's how you identify them.

That's as much as I'm willing to argue about this topic.

Edit- If you're going to argue about how to pronounce a word, get everyone to speak the same damn language across the world first, then you have room to debate an individual language's linguistics like it actually fucking matters.
